On Saturday night Sheffield middleweight prospect Adam Etches (15-0) fights Mexican Felipe De la Paz Teniente (12-1) for the chance to add more silverware to his mantlepiece. The pair will contest the vacant WBC Youth middleweight title.

Stuart Hall and Paul Butler clash on June 7 in Newcastle

Darlington’s IBF Bantamweight champion Stuart Hall (16-2-2) and Ellesmere Port’s unbeaten Paul Butler (15-0) will meet at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena on Saturday June 7. Subject to final approval from the IBF, it will be Hall’s second voluntary defence.

Sheffield’s European bantamweight champion Kid Galahad has declared himself ‘ready and willing’ to fight domestic rival Scott Quigg after his next fight on May 10th. Galahad keeps busy at the Ponds Forge Arena and reckons he’s ready to 'face and destroy’ the Bury champion, who defends his title against South African Tshifhiwa Munyai tonight.

Earlier this week news came that former WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns had split with long-time trainer Billy Nelson and joined up with Essex based trainer Tony Sims’ Gym to train alongside other Matchroom talent such as Kevin Mitchell and Anthony Joshua. The plan is for Burns to fight a WBC ranked opponent in June at Braehead Arena in order to engineer a crack at either Omar Figueroa or Jerry Belmontes, who contest the full weight WBC title in California next weekend.

Doncaster's Jamie McDonnell (23-2-1) will face Thai Tabtimdaeng Na Rachawat (52-2) for the vacant WBA Bantamweight title at Wembley Stadium on May 31st - the Froch v Groves II bill.

Simon Barclay speaks to BoxRec News from Klitschko's Champ Camp

Heavyweight world champion Wladimir Klitschko is preparing to face Australian Alex Leapai on 26th April and as usual he has chosen the familiar surroundings of the Austrian Alps. Just hours after winning his professional debut at the Copper Box in London, 24-year old Corby cruiserweight Simon Barclay was on a plane to join up with him in what the Ukrainian calls 'Champ Camp'.

Brentwood’s ‘Smokin’ Joe Mullender (6-1) got back on track with a close points win over Peckham’s Diego Burton (4-4-1) over ten rounds at the York Hall on Saturday. It was a belter of a fight on a slightly smaller than usual Goodwin bill, partly due to 'Flash' Ashley Sexton not making weight again (more on this later) and 'Big Dog' AJ Carter’s opponent, who reportedly turned up with Evo-Stick holding his mooey in place.
