Woodhouse offers to fight Theophane for free
Light-welterweight contender Curtis Woodhouse has used BoxRec's British forum to announce that he's prepared to fight British champion Ashley Theophane for free - win, lose or draw.
The 31 year-old Driffield boxer (16-3) pulled out of a highly-anticipated small hall bout against veteran banger Jason Cook due to family circumstances and is now turning his sights on Londoner Theophane (31-4-1).
"I've today informed Rich Poxon of Hatton Promotions via Twitter and Dean Powell from FWP that I'm willing to fight Ashley Theophane free of charge.
"All the money can go to the champ win, lose or draw - this is a real offer. All I ask for is 8 weeks' notice to get in shape.
"Ash can have all the money but the belt will leave with me. I got told he wanted loads of money (so) this solves the problem.
"He doesn't have to accept the offer, but all I'm trying to do is give him and his team every opportunity to defend against me next. I could wait until he vacates and try and get a fight with the new champ whoever that might be but I want ash because hes a very well respected fighter and i would feel better about taking the belt off the real deal then nobody could say (anything)."
