Hearn Tweets: Froch remains at 168 - I hope Bellew gets the rematch

Eddie Hearn has responded to rumours on Twitter that the much talked about Carl Froch v Lucian Bute home and away (or away and home) concept has been rejected by Showtime, and various twitterers, including a representative of new company Queensberry Promotions, calling for Froch to fight Nathan Cleverly in the summer instead.

Hearn posted on Twitter: "Lots of tweets asking about @Carl_Froch - just to clear things up from our side. Discussions are on going with @interboxbute (Lucian Bute) with regards to a possible 2 fight deal."

" I believe Showtime will want Bute to fight Ward as SS (Super Six) winner but haven't 'turned down' the fight to us."

"A home fight is very important to us so if no Bute, we will fight end of April early May in Nottingham."

"Re the Cleverly fight, Carl will remain at 168lbs for the forseeable future so that fight is not on the radar at all. I hope Tony Bellew gets the rematch he deserves."

Regarding said rematch, Tony Bomber Bellew tweeted: "Boxing makes me laugh, same day Im told I'll get a rematch in the summer is the same day I see my supposed "team" asking to fight Carl Froch."

"So I'm told one thing then I see another being played out? Crazy the situations people get themselves into through the twitter world."

Indeed. To quote Prime Minister David Cameron: "Too many tweets might make a twat"

So, Froch stays at 168 for the mo, and a fight against Cleverly is not on the menu, but you don't need a PHD in boxing politics to figure out it was never going to happen anyway.
