Coldwell wins purse bids for Bellew v McIntosh
Coldwell Boxing is delighted to announce that a winning purse bid has landed the thriving promotional company a British title blockbuster between power-punching light-heavyweights Tony Bellew and Danny McIntosh, on a date to be announced.
Promoter Dave Coldwell surprised many to win the purse bid and now can't wait to host one of 2012's most eagerly anticipated home title clashes.
“This is a great day for us at Coldwell Boxing, simply because winning purse bids for a fight of this magnitude shows what we are all about,” said Coldwell. “I see this news as a real sign of intent, as this was a fight that had attracted interest from other promoters. It is the ambition of my business partner Spencer Fearn and I to move Coldwell Boxing to the next level in 2012 and the acquisition of this fight is just one step in that direction.
"Within a year or two we want to be in the mix for television dates and, obviously, the likes of Bellew and McIntosh are bonafide TV fighters.
“I've known Tony Bellew since he first started his professional journey, and it is an honour to work with him on this particular fight. He's very popular in his home city of Liverpool and, above all else, he's an easy going and personable guy. Tony knows how to promote a fight and he's hungry to reach the top.
“Danny McIntosh is also a great kid, and someone who knows how to promote himself. He is a big personality with a big punch and, combined with Tony Bellew, I really couldn't ask for a better couple of headliners. These two were made for the big stage.”
