Chichester hosts charity boxing event

Boxing in the community aims to show it’s strength and determination once again as The Rotary Club of Chichester Priory in association with St Gerard’s Amateur Boxing Club present a Charity Sporting Night Dinner on Saturday 28th January.

The event is being hosted by the Westgate Leisure centre in Chichester and will involve a four course meal and an evening of amateur boxing. Guests will be treated to a host of local talent taking part in ten scheduled bouts.

Co-headlining the show will be a middleweight contest that see’s St Gerard’s Dan Maguire take on Norwich Boys ABC’s Frank Sictorness and a heavyweight match up between James Collins and Luke Bateson. The VK gym in Bognor Regis will be presenting an annual trophy to the best local boxer of the night, this is a big occasion for the local fighters as it’s the first show in Chichester in almost fifteen years. Promoter Frank Maloney has confirmed his attendance at the fundraising evening.

Boxing in Chichester has proved over the years to be a valuable asset to its young folk and has managed to teach them important values and discipline during their adolescent years. The event will raise vital funds for the voluntary organisations in the area such as St Gerard’s and the Chichester Boys Club.

A table of ten is also being sponsored for members of the armed forces who have fought in Afghanistan. If your interested in showing support for this deserving cause by attending the event, all the standing tickets have sold out but there are still some £50 dinner tickets.

All enquiries including ticket purchases should go to Ray Richardson on 01243 543701 or Gerry Lavelle on 07837 324503.
