Booth v Galahad for WBC International belt
A classic crossroads match between veteran Jason Booth and upcoming talent Kid Galahad will be for the vacant WBC International super-bantamweight strap.
The match will headline a Hennessy Promotions card at Rotherham's Magna Centre on Saturday 18th February.
It is thought the bill - featuring Chris Eubank Jr - will be broadcast by Channel 5.
34 year-old Booth (36-8) has had twice as many major title fights as 21 year-old Galahad (10-0) has had contests - but it's a measure of the confidence the Ingles have in the Sheffield youngster that they are prepared to match him against such a class act.
Embellishing their confidence will undoubtedly be the perception that Booth is on the way down. This might be true but then he's coming down from a long way up. He's lost three of his last four - a majority decision for the IBF title against Steve Molitor in September 2010, stopped in ten by Kiko Martinez when challenging for the vacant European title and then last October he was dominated and stopped in seven in a tilt at Scott Quigg's Lonsdale belt.
Before Galahad supporters start prematurely celebrating though, they should note it was only a year ago that Booth successfully defended his British and Commonwealth belts against Jamie Arthur.
Given Galahad's record - predictably peppered with journeyman seeing as he's only had ten bouts - Arthur would be a big step up for him, never mind Booth.
It is a contest that should make for intriguing viewing and one in which youth - albeit unexposed thus far - should prove victorious over a fading, once-classy veteran.
