Two BoxRec #1s go head to head tonight in female super-fight

A female super-fight takes place in the Czech Republic tonight as Christina Hammer defends her WBO and WBF middleweight titles against WIBA and WIBF light-middleweight champion, Maria Lindberg.

I have absolutely no idea of the relative merits of the belts but it's a rarity for two unbeaten number ones in different divisions to go head to head.

20-year-old Hammer (9-0) was born in Kazakhstan but is now based in Germany; she only made her debut in September 2009. Swede Lindberg made her pro debut in 2003 but only averages one bout a year and is currently 5-0-2.

At 34, Lindberg is much older than Hammer and, at 5'5" is also giving away six inches in height to the woman who normally competes in the heavier division.

Somebody's '0' has got to go.  Unless it's a draw.

The match is chief support to Lucas Konecny's second defence of the European light-middleweight title he won by stopping Matthew Hall in September last year.
