Top promoter supports Scott Harrison in his comeback effort
Former WBO featherweight champion Scott Harrison's recent release from incarceration in a Spanish jail has the support of one of Scotland's top promoters.
Alex Morrison is supporting the troubled tough man in his bid to get his professional boxer's licence back.
There is no doubt that Scott Harrison has made mistakes in his life, but the fact is, he has been punished for those. If he can still make a contribution to the sport he once excelled in then perhaps it is fair and reasonable to give him the opportunity.
Boxing history is littered with former inmates who made good on release from jail. The 34 year-old has not withered in the Algeciras prison that was his home for the last two and a half years, and with the support of his father, renowned trainer Peter Harrison, he believes he can regain all that was cast aside during the dark days.
It remains to be seen if the boxing authorities show him some clemency and give him the opportunity to rebuild his shattered life.
It won't harm his case that an experienced figure like Morrison is prepared to back his application.
