'Speed is the key to Matthew beating Alvarez,' says Ricky Hatton
Former two-weight world champion Ricky Hatton says that speed and combination punching can see his brother Matthew pull off an upset victory against heavy favourite Saul Alvarez this weekend.
The younger Hatton sibling fights for the WBC light-middleweight belt at Anaheim's Honda Center in California on Saturday night.
Ricky was speaking at a public workout session at Westside Boxing Gym in Los Angeles.
"It will be another big fight. My brother is well prepared and very happy to get this opportunity to come and fight in the United States for the WBC belt. He's trained a lot and done a series of great things to improve himself and is ready to win.
"It's a very big opportunity. Matthew is confident he can win, he is the European champion, although it will be a tough fight for him because Saul Alvarez is bigger physically.
"We know that people don't give him much chance, but the whole team are very confident and have come to win.
"We know that Saul Alvarez is stronger and bigger, but we’re relying on speed, throwing combinations, going out and coming in, and with that I think we can beat Saul Alvarez."
