Right, when's the next boxing on?
Now well and truly over-sated by mince pies and mulled wine, I'm sure many British fight fans will now be asking a similar question. Look, I know we've had a nice little break but if you aren't getting delirium tremens pugilistica by now, you soon will be. So, let's have a peek at the interesting, upcoming domestic matches listed on our schedule for the next few weeks.
Saturday 22nd January, Doncaster Dome
Jamie McDonnell v Stephane Jamoye (EBU bantamweight title)
David Price v TBA
Carl Johanneson v Akaash Bhatia
Liam Cameron v TBA
Jamie McDonnell had an incredible 2010 picking up the British, Commonwealth and European titles and he's rewarded with a second hometown defence against little 21-year-old Belgian Jamoye who has a decent log at 19-1 and is the EU champion.
Frank Maloney's big heavyweight hope David Price gets a run out as does classy boxer and former amateur champ Liam Cameron. Carl J sees if he has anything left with a decent test against Kash the Bash.
Saturday 29th January, London Olympia
Prizefighter - the light-heavyweights. The franchise gets another run out and Matchroom have tempted Robin Reid out of retirement. Tony Dodson adds weight to both himself and the line up. Unbeaten Travis Dickinson and underrated journeyman Mikhail Banbula add a bit of spice too.
Saturday 5th February, Brentwood
Sam Webb v Bradley Pryce (British light-middleweight title)
Martin Power v Ashley Sexton
Two interesting matches here. Webb holds a special place in most British fans hearts as he beat the widely-loathed Anthony Small; the ever-popular Pryce has been written off more times than Zimbabwe's currency. BoxRec poster Martin Power, admired by all for his courage as well as his skills, is listed against Sexton. The wee men don't have much choice of opponents these days - Power is having to step down to super-fly.
Saturday 5th February, Wembley Arena
John O'Donnell v Craig Watson (vacant British welterweight title)
Lenny Daws v Ashley Theophane (British light-middleweight title)
Another couple of potential crackers. O'Donnell holds a points decision over Watson from their April 2009 Commonwealth title clash (pic above, courtesy Justin McKie). The talented Watson is keen to make amends.
'Treasure' Theophane has one of the more interesting records of any British fighter, having based much of his career in the States. He has four losses and a draw on his log against mainly uninspiring opposition but, then again, he was a stand out win against admittedly on the wane Chop Chop Corley too. He stopped Alan Bosworth in seven in an eliminator for this belt in 2007. He won't endear himself with most fans who don't know much about him with his comments that champion Laws is merely a make time fight. Lenny, though regularly unspectacular, is very effective and has one of British boxing's most underrated engines.
So, some decent British bouts to look forward to over the next few weeks, though we've still got a little time to wait before first bell. There's always your DVD collection, think on.
