Prospect Promotions signs decent amateur

Paul Graham’s Prospect Promotions have announced the signing of 19 year-old Ian Butcher from Jerviston, Motherwell.

Butcher is a five-time Scottish youth champion and two-time British youth champion at flyweight.

As a senior amateur, Butcher made it to the quarter final in the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth games where he lost to the eventual winner Paddy Barnes. He also finished runner up in the Scottish senior championships earlier this year having made it all the way to the final before pulling out due to an ear infection.

Butcher should make his pro debut on Prospect Promotions 28th October show at the Wishaw Sports Centre.

Promoter Graham explained, “We have secured sponsorship from local businessman Cameron Dalziel that will allow us to finance his career and guide him to major professional titles within the next three years.”

Butcher signed with Prospect Promotions despite reported interest from top promoters all over Britain stating that he wants to “keep his feet on the ground” and box on local shows with a local promoter.
