New WBA number 6 Kell Brook determined to stop N'dou
Kell Brook will box for the WBA Inter-Continental title on June 25th - and is determined to prove his doubters wrong by stopping super-tough opponent, Lovemore N'dou.
The new WBA number six (according to his promoter Eddie Hearn) is chomping at the bit to impress in front of his Sheffield fans when he fights at Hillsborough Leisure Centre, a venue which is within walking distance of his house.
Fans on the forum seem doubtful that N'dou can be stopped at all, having not been halted by the likes of Junior Witter, Kermit Cintron and Saul Alvarez.
"I just think that I’m completely different to all them fighters. I’m Kell Brook. I’m going to hit him often and with power. My last eight opponents I’ve stopped them and I know he’s different class to them but I just can’t see myself going twleve rounds with him."
The furthest 'Special K' has ever been is into the seventh round - could there be some worry at the back of his mind about being dragged into the later rounds?
"I’m not worried at all, I’ve been doing twelve rounds for fun in the gym. I’m going to Tenerife tomorrow to do high altitude training, putting myself through it because I know this kid is tough and game. I know it’s going to be a very exciting fight and a lot of action in the ring."
Brook is particularly happy to be given the opportunity to fight in Sheffield, something which he hasn't done since he turned 19 back in 2005.
"It’s two minutes from my house, it makes it special. I'm Sheffield born and bred and haven’t boxed here since I was a kid. A lot of my fans can’t get to my fights because it’s in London or far away. I want it to be a sell out and it’s good for Sheffield."
Brook sees his recent switch to promoters Matchroom Sport as the key to a positive future.
"I’ve been waiting and ready for quite a while. Moving to Matchroom...me and Eddie are on the same page and want the same things. I’ll leave it to Matchroom, you know me, I’ll fight anyone.
"I want a world title as soon as I can but Matchroom will do the best move for me. But if they say (I should) get one more in before a world title - or whatever they say - that’s what I’ll do."
