Lee McAllister out to make Scottish boxing history
Aberdeen’s Lee McAllister has been given an opportunity to create a little bit of Scottish Boxing history by being nominated to fight for the vacant Commonwealth light-welterweight belt on the 11th June in his home city's Beach Ballroom.
If successful, McAllister will be the first Scottish boxer to hold two Commonwealth titles simultaneously.
The Scot will face off against a Ghanian by the name of Quartey...but it's Isaac rather than former world champion Ike. This Quartey has a BoxRec-verified record of 7-6-1, won his national light-welter title in September 2010 and has never been stopped. Given McAllister superior log, he'll be hopeful of a win, especially in his home city.
The undercard has Barry Morrison looking to restart his career after the disappointment of his loss to Paul McCloskey for the European Light Welterweight in October of last year.
It is also an opportunity to see the giant heavyweight known as, “The Highlander” Gary Cornish of Inverness in his second outing, having stopped Howard Daley in only two rounds on his debut.
