George Groves withdraws from Liverpool bill
George Groves has withdrawn from his next scheduled fight citing a hand injury sustained in training.
TBC will just have to wait.
The 23-year-old British and Commonwealth super-middleweight champion was set to headline a card alongside division rival James DeGale at the Liverpool Echo Arena on 9 December. DeGale now tops the bill on his own, defending his WBO Inter-Continental title against 34 year-old Spaniard Jose Maria Guerrero.
"I'm really gutted as I was coming along nicely in training," Groves told the BBC. "The injury is a setback as I wanted to end the year with four good wins.
"I'm sorry that my fans won't be able to see me in action, but I'll be back early next year and ready to kick off 2012 with a bang as I continue towards further titles."
