BoxRec News recognised in national journalism awards

BoxRec News has been recognised in the annual awards of the Sports Journalists' Association of Great Britain - the world's largest organisation for professional sports journalists.

Our Editor, Ian McNeilly, has been shortlisted for the 2010 Internet Sports Writer of the Year.

The shortlist of six includes full-timers from the BBC, Daily Telegraph, Guardian and the Daily Mail.

The awards will be presented next Monday.

McNeilly (above, with Kell Brook) came up short when he was nominated in this category in its inaugural year of 2007.

"The presentation speech to the winner that year - a lad from the BBC - started with 'We really liked the variety of sports covered by this writer' so I knew it wasn't my year straight away," he said.

"If that's what they're looking for, I suppose I've had it but you never know, fingers crossed and all that.

"Regardless, it's fantastic for BoxRec News to be recognised by such an august body."
