BoxNation 'withdraws' from Liverpool show on 16th December
After the postponement of tonight's BoxNation card in Liverpool which originally advertised James DeGale and George Groves in separate bouts (before Groves withdrew), the new subscription channel has 'withdrawn their involvement' from another bill in the city, scheduled for next Saturday (16th).
That promotion was to have been headed by Stephen Ormond v Carl Johanneson.
BoxRec News is happy to help the fledgling TV channel communicate this message to its viewers.
A statement on a promoter's website reads: "Queensberry Promotions and BoxNation’s involvement at the dinner event at St George’s Hall, Liverpool due to take place on 16 December, has been withdrawn after the party who had contracted Queensberry Promotions to supply the boxing element at the event failed to comply with the terms of the agreement.
"Queensberry Promotions gave the party every opportunity and as much time as reasonably possible to comply with the agreement, but when the necessary funds weren’t forthcoming, Queensberry Promotions had no option but to cancel the contract and withdraw its fighters from the event.
"Francis Warren, Managing Director of Queensberry Promotions said, 'It’s bitterly disappointing that the party have failed to comply with the terms of the agreement, and that the boxers on the card will not get the opportunity to fight before Christmas. We’re looking to do a show in Dublin in 2012 and involve as many of the boxers who were scheduled to fight as possible. I’m also hugely disappointed for Steve Collins who has worked tirelessly to bring the two parties together and to provide many of the boxers.'"
