Boswell's message to Povetkin - expect the unexpected
Brendan Galbraith in Helsinki: Cedric Boswell is determined to reach the pinnacle of his boxing career tomorrow night and the Atlanta man warned that although he and Povetkin have shared a training camp before, the champion will not be able to anticipate what is in store for him tonight.
"We have worked in camp together before, so I know he will come in good shape and be prepared and I will be prepared as well."
And what can Povetkin expect from Boswell tomorrow night?
"He can expect a lot of movement and good hand speed. I don't think he can expect - with respect with what is going to happen tomorrow night (tonight)."
At the age of 42, this is possibly Boswell's last chance to win the WBA title and a significant motivator. "It would mean everything," said Boswell. "In boxing, this is like the 'Superbowl' , the 'Stanley Cup' or whatever you want to call it. This is the Mecca of boxing and I have been waiting for this a long time."
And Boswell enthused that even at twilight years of his boxing career he is still learning and developing as a fighter. "Everyday I am going to the gym, I am developing and learning so that is a great thing. When you stop developing and learning, your boxing career is over.
"I had a great camp in Atlanta, I dont know how many rounds sparring we got in - but we got in a lot of rounds and I am well prepared for tomorrow night."
