The bad news just keeps coming for Mick Hennessy...

On the day it was officially announced that his leading light, Carl Froch, has left Mick Hennessy to sign for a rival, the British Boxing Board of Control has issued a statement revealing that the promoter has been unable to fulfil the terms of his winning purse bid to stage Tyson Fury v Dereck Chisora.

Hennessy Sports announced that they had won the bid on 14th April with the promoter stating, "I’m delighted to announce that Hennessy Sports have won the rights to stage this well talked about mega fight and as per BBBofC rules we will be announcing the date and venue for this contest within the next 14 days."

This has not been the case according to the Board.

General Secretary Robert Smith said, "Due to Promoter Mick Hennessy being unable to fulfil the terms and conditions of the British Boxing Board of Control Championship purse bid, the Stewards have decided to put out on short terms purse bids for Dereck Chisora v Tyson Fury, to take place by the end of July.  Purse bids to be opened on Wednesday, 11th May 2011."

Hennessy has now seen Froch and Darren Barker leave his stable recently and this is more bad news for him. For one reason or another, the promoter has been unable to secure a decent UK TV deal and he looks to be suffering as a result.
