Amir Khan v Erik Morales looking possible for December

Things are coming together for Amir Khan. After an impressive performance against veteran Zab Judah to snatch the IBF light-welterweight title to accompany his own WBA belt, the Bolton man has another old timer in his sights - Mexican legend Erik Morales.

Morales faces Jorge Barrios for the vacant WBC light-welter title on 17th September after the 'governing' body harshly stripped Timothy Bradley.

"That would be the perfect scenario,” Khan told his local paper, The Bolton News. “I want to clean up the 140lbs division before moving up to 147lbs and that would be another belt for me.

“Bradley got stripped because he didn’t want to fight me. He’s dropped to number two and I’m number one now.

“Morales will fight Rios for the WBC title but I really think he will win that.”

Khan stated after his victory over Judah that he would like to fight in December and if Morales comes through unscathed, there is no reason why a unification fight between the pair couldn't happen at that time.

"I need these big fights to motivate me and push me. I want to be remembered as being one of the best fighters."
