Adams to find out who he's on the Edge of Glory with

Topping the bill on Olivia Goodwin’s ‘Edge of Glory’ show at the York Hall on December 3rd will be Ali ‘The Tiger’ Adams (12-3-1), who gets a shot at the Heavyweight International Masters belt.

Adams’ opponent is expected to be named by the end of this week, but it has been rumoured on the BoxRec forum that both Matt Skelton and Larry Olubamiwo have been approached.

Adams, 31, stated: “I am anticipating massive support from my fans for this one. Everybody is in for a shock on December 3rd. Trust me, on this one I have trained like never before”

The Iraqi heavyweight has settled in with Goodwin Promotions, manager James Paisley and trainer Don Charles, who also coaches former British Heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora and recent Prizefighter welterweight winner Yassine El Maachi.

“Since appointing Don Charles as my trainer I am a rejuvenated fighter, with a totally galvanised arsenal in my locker. Everyone will witness this on December 3rd - that I can promise.”

On his recent signing to Goodwin Promotions, Adams stated: “I signed with Steve Goodwin to get title fights. My career was going nowhere. Steve stepped in and has helped me so much, I will now pay him back.”

Another International Masters title fight is featured on the bill, this time at super-bantamweight between Welshman Paul Economides (11-2) and Ghanaian Isaac Nettey (14-8-1). Economides fights in his second ten rounder just six weeks after picking up the British version of the Masters belt against Bradford’s Shaun Doherty.

The packed undercard features Ipswich’s Henry Bacon (3-0) and Diego Burton (2-0-1) from Peckham, London, putting their undefeated records on the line in an interesting novice matchup.

The mammoth 15 fight bill also includes Thamesmead’s Ryan Barrett (24-9-2), who now campaigns at welterweight, against Latvian Jevgenijs Kirillovs (7-12-1), Luton’s Michael ‘Chunky’ Devine (6-1) against Syrian Journeyman Youssef Al Hamidi (9-39-2) and Hoddeston cruiserweight Butch Goldhawk (1-0) against Lithuanian Rolandas Cesna (0-5).

Edge of Glory takes place at the York Hall on Saturday December 3rd. Doors open at 4.15, with tickets priced at £35 (unreserved) and £60 (VIP reserved ringside). Visit www.goodwinpromotions.co.uk for details.
