Tyson Fury opponent change, part 84 - plus weights
Mancunian gypsy giant Tyson Fury has yet another opponent scheduled for his match on the Primetime-screened undercard of Jean Pascal v Bernard Hopkins from Canada tonight.
He now faces 37 year-old American Zack Page.
In what has become long-standing practice for Fury, opponents are listed and ink wasted as they inevitably fall by the wayside. This is at least his third for this bill (Israel Garcia and Galen Brown both announced and then changed).
Page is 21-32-2. He has some decent names on his record; he dropped a split decision to the infuriating Dominick Guinn four years ago. He boxed in London two years ago, losing a points verdict to Michael Sprott. He's lost his last three but showed some half-decent form (relatively speaking) by clearly beating recent Prizefighter competitor Kevin McBride by decision in July and, before that, travelling to Germany to defeat touted prospect Sebastian Koeber (then 19-0) in January.
Fury weighed in at a reported 19st 2lbs 14oz; Page 15st 2lbs 3oz.
Fury might have beaten his previous opponent, Rich Power, by 80-72 shutout but he looked terrible at times and wasn't happy with his performance. A repeat of that standard might see a motivated Page cause a few problems though, in reality, if Fury has any ambition beyond his current level he should deal with Page handily.
