Tyson Fury - "I'm finished with trash talking"
Tyson Fury has astonishingly claimed he is finished... with ‘trash talking.’
The recently crowned English heavyweight champion burst onto the boxing scene in 2008 and immediately gained exposure with his quick fire lips which upset a few fellow professionals along the way.
In hindsight Fury reflected by saying it was all a means of getting noticed.
The Mancunian gypsy added, “In the past I have spoken out loudly, you have to do it in the beginning to get hyped up, to get a bit of a name, but I am already a face in world boxing, I don’t think there is anyone in the world like boxing fans who don’t know Tyson Fury (sic).”
I saw Tyson just two days before he stopped John McDermott in nine rounds last month and he looked calm but had no interest in getting involved with any cross talk and showed complete respect for McDermott and the other top ranked British heavyweights.
Despite weighing a career heaviest and looking tired Fury once again displayed massive heart in just his tenth professional fight against a seasoned heavyweight proving he’s not all mouth and no action.
The 22 year-old giant insisted it’s no fun being public enemy number one and said, “I don’t like being a fan hater. The British public don’t like you being too big headed.”
As Tyson now wants to move away from any reputation of being a loudmouth he could face a battle in the eyes of some press who may wonder ‘can the leopard change his spots.’
He is now in line to face the winner of British champion Derek Chisora and Commonwealth holder Sam Sexton who meet in September in a championship double header.
If he meets Chisora I wonder if the two will agree to a good clean pre-fight and not play their part in the war of the words.
Imagine that - a quiet Tyson and Chisora sat on the same table.
Stranger things have happened!
