Team Anderson want mandatory position after David withdrawal
David seemed raring to go in an interview with this website earlier this week but withdrew from the match on Saturday citing gastroenteritis.
“Obviously we’re gutted,” mused Maree on his train home from north of the border. “It’s several months of hard work and expense we’ve lost out on.
“The Ingle gym (in Sheffield, where David is based) is known for being a professionally run outfit and we’ve got nothing against them at all. We’re dealing with humans here, not machines and these things happen.
“But we’d like a medical certificate produced to confirm this. I’m not saying for one minute there’s been any shenanigans but I hope this isn’t just to get the fight out of Scotland. If a new date could be arranged for a few weeks time, we’d jump at the chance to fight him. We’d fight him at the Ingle gym or at David’s house – we don’t care because wherever the fight is, Kenny will beat him.”
Maree says that the Board should look at the situation and make Anderson the mandatory contender to Liverpool champion, Paul Smith.
“As I’ve said, we’d fight David, no problem. But if you look at it he’s been inactive for over a year. He should fall down the order and Kenny go to the top of it.”
