St Andrew's 300th show - Wins for Anderson and Green

The renowned old club featured only two bouts on their 300th show, but those bouts will have provided high entertainment for the fortunate guests who were present in Glasgow's Radisson Blu Hotel last night

Kenny Anderson had been scheduled to box Paul David in a British title eliminator and two Scottish boxers Stuart Green and the Prince of Passion (formerly known as Mitch Prince) were supporting with a fight for the vacant Scottish light-welterweight title.

David’s withdrawal due to injury, meant a first showing in Glasgow of Patrick Mendy, a Gambian based in Reading. Anderson won this eight rounder by a margin which respected boxing commentators describe as generous with a three point margin. Mendy’s record would have seemed innocuous beforehand but the Gambian made Anderson work for his points win. Tangibly demonstrating you can't judge a book by it's cover!

Stuart Green finally won a title, albeit with the Scottish version, in a war of attrition with the Prince by edging the decision by a single point. The Prince had stitches inserted above the eye and to his head after the bout and will want to take some time to regain his looks, which took a pounding in this war.
