Scottish title bout hit by "strike" without a punch thrown!

Gary McArthur and Stuart Green's title showdown has been dealt a low blow by the threat of industrial action by Glasgow Culture & Sport employees. Gary "the Clydebank Blitz" McArthur was due face champion Stuart Green of Glenrothes for the Scottish light-welterweight title at Scotstoun Sports Campus on Friday, May 28. but the show has now been called off, as employees of the aptly(?) named Culture & Sport department, which operates Scotstoun Sports Campus, are planning to strike that day over pay and conditions.

This has meant that the show will have to be put back, possibly to September, according to promoter Chris Gilmour. Similarly upset will be those boxers who were scheduled to make up the undercard, although Chris Gilmour is hoping to get them bouts before the season ends.

For the potential strikers the fact that their action is denying boxers a chance to earn money, seems to be an irrelevance!
