Rendall Munroe has to enter the dragon's den

Leicester's European super-bantamweight champion Rendall Munroe has never fought out of Britain.  What a place to go to for your debut on foreign shores.  The refuse collector will take his boxing bin wagon to Tokyo in late October in an attempt to wrest the WBC belt from Japanese Toshiaki Nishioka.

Maloney Promotions say they can't name the exact date at the moment due to an imminent announcement to be made in Japan though the venue is the pragmatically named 'Sumo Arena'.

Munroe has come a long way since the sole loss on his 22-fight log, a points defeat for the British featherweight title to Andy Morris in April 2006.  He dropped a weight and has never looked back.

Four fights and two years later, he battled his way to a somewhat surprising tight points victory for the European belt at super-bantam against dangerman Kiko Martinez and has won seven on the bounce since.

Nishioka, 33, turned pro at the tender age of 18 and holds a 36-4-3 record.  He had a four-bout series with Veeraphol Sahaprom in the early noughties, all for the WBC bantamweight title and came up short every time, losing the first and last and drawing the middle two.

He finally won a title at the higher weight in January 2009 and has defended it thrice since, travelling to Mexico for his first defence where he stopped Jhonny Gonzalez in three after being down in the first.

Should be a cracker and it'll be interesting to see if UK fans will be able to watch the action from the Far East live.
