Proposed Munroe v Booth match off
Jason Booth's mandated British super-bantamweight title defence against friend and local rival Rendall Munroe will not be going ahead after all.
Munroe's manager, Mike Shinfield, has pulled his man from the purse bids which were due on Wednesday.
"We feel, at this stage, that Rendall would be taking three steps backwards," Shinfield told the Nottingham Evening Post.
"It is not in the best interests of either boxer, who have just come off world title fights, at the moment. But it could still be one for the future.
"There is nothing definite yet, but we have several options to pursue with Rendall for WBC or International titles."
New Commonwealth champion Jamie Arthur and unbeaten Scott Quigg are the next men in line for Booth as the pair have been matched by the Board in a final eliminator. Purse bids for this are also due on Wednesday with the contest mandated to take place by the end of February 2011.
"I'm not too disappointed the Munroe fight is off," said Booth's manager Jimmy Gill.
"It's a match neither boxer really wanted. No-one wants to see best friends fight.
"Having said that, Jason had just started to get his head around the fight and was actually looking forward to it, because he was confident he knew how to beat Rendall."
