Paul's Press Ups

Paul Foley finds Bruno and Brook set for fame game...

The Mirror recently reported that Frank Bruno is set to top the bill once again.

But don’t worry the former WBC heavyweight champion isn’t about to lace the gloves up again. Instead the British favourite could be about to display his ‘fancy footwork’ on the hit TV show Strictly Come Dancing.

After the success of Joe Calzaghe in the last series bosses are keen on having another household fighter strut his stuff on Saturday nights and a show insider revealed why their money is on Bruno to be a knockout once again.

“Frank is one of the country’s best-loved celebrities. He is still very fit and trains every day so the gruelling schedule of Strictly won’t be a problem for him. The producers have made getting Frank onto their show their number one priority.”

And with news that Sky will be switching fights to Saturday nights at 9pm just in case the action is a little uneventful at least we have got a fighter here (okay minus the gloves) who will entertain no matter what.

I’m not a fan of Strictly but for ‘Big Frank’ I’ll make an exception.

Know what I mean?

While Frank has long been a household name, The Express’ Niall Hickman was looking ahead to someone who could soon be joining him in the world of celebrities as he wrote.

‘For many years Kell Brook has been considered Britain’s next big noise in boxing, but the waiting is now over to see if the promise can be backed up. Brook tackles former world title challenger Michael Jennings in Birmingham on September 18th.’

Based in Sheffield and trained by Dominic Ingle, Brook who is in the Naseem Hamed mould for punch power and confidence suggested he’s ready for the big time while Jennings found his level when losing to Miguel Cotto in February last year.

“I have never been really tested before, but I know I’m going to be properly tested now, I have got a lot of time for Michael Jennings as he is a class fighter.”

But obviously Kell thinks he’s going to succeed where Michael failed and added, “I think the Cotto fight showed where he is, and whereas I think I belong in Cotto’s class I don’t think Jennings does.”

Brook possesses the looks and personality TV loves and beating Jennings brings forth an added bonus of being in line to fight WBO title holder Manny Pacquiao.

And what better way to become a star than make Manny see them!
