Munroe's physique causes 'dropped jaws' in Japan

Rendall Munroe's trainer Mike Shinfield says his man is in such good condition that his physique has shocked his Japanese hosts.

The much-decorated Leicester super-bantamweight is in Tokyo to challenge for Toshiaki Nishioka's WBC belt.

"When we arrived there was a lot of press and TV cameras to meet us at the airport," Shinfield told the Nottingham Evening Post.

"When we did an open work-out at the Teiken Gym in Tokyo, there must have been 50 or 60 press there as well as TV cameras.

"When they saw the shape of his body there were a few dropped jaws.

"Rendall is in excellent shape and his weight is bang on."

"The preparations been perfect," said the challenger. "I've been sparring with Terry Flannigan for a couple of weeks. I'm getting faster; I'm getting stronger; I'm punching harder."
