Magee makes Danish pastry of Larsen and takes Euro title

Ulsterman Brian Magee stopped Dane Mads Larsen in the seventh round of their European super-middleweight title fight in Aarhus last night.

Magee's surprise victory was emphatic as he had the hometown fighter down in the fifth round and twice in the sixth before stopping him only 15 seconds into the seventh session with Larsen again on the deck.

This marks a remarkable turnaround in the career of the likeable 34-year-old former British champion.  He had to give up his Lonsdale belt last year because of injury and also pulled out of a British title match with Tony Quigley in June.
