Kell Brook wins appeal against assault conviction

Welterweight wonder kid Kell Brook is officially 'of good character' in the eyes of the law after winning his appeal against a conviction for common assault.

Brook was convicted of the offence at Barnsley Magistrates Court in June after it was alleged he had punched the manager of a nightclub who was trying to stop him entering the ladies' toilets.

The original story was reported here by BoxRec News.

The appeal was heard today at Sheffield Crown Court by a judge and two magistrates.  The man who claimed to be the victim of the assault did not attend court.  The conviction was expunged and Brook no longer has a criminal record.

He was represented by Grayson Willis Bennett solicitors of Sheffield and Richard Barradell acted as counsel.

Although some people might consider this to be a minor matter, had Brook lost his appeal the conviction might very well have caused him some visa difficulties should he ever want to fight somewhere such as the United States.

Brook's next fight is set to be on a bill at the Liverpool Echo Arena on December 11th with his opponent yet to be announced.
