'Jamie Moore has done the right thing' - Amir Khan

Bolton's WBA light-welterweight champion Amir Khan supports his fellow Lancastrian Jamie Moore in his decision to hang up the gloves.

Former British, Commonwealth and European light-middleweight champion Moore - one of the most popular British fighters among hardcore fans for many a year - decided to retire after a surprise defeat up at middleweight on the undercard of David Haye's win over John Ruiz.

“He's done the right thing, Jamie should have been world champion long ago," said Khan, who has his own business to take care of when he defends against New York's Paulie Malignaggi in the American's home town on May 15th.

"You walk into the sport and the main thing is to walk out of it with something because a lot of fighters have to come back when they are past their prime.  When the time comes you need to walk away and not come back.”
