Holyfield to make Prizefighter Heavyweights IV draw
Boxing's favourite one night stand returns to East London's York Hall on Saturday 2nd October with Prizefighter Heavyweights IV.
The tournament which has helped Audley Harrison keep his world title dreams alive and seen the rise of winners Martin Rogan, Martin Murray,Sam Sexton and Willie Casey will once again host the big men of boxing.
Promoters Matchroom have also enlisted one of the biggest names in heavyweight history the three time heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield who could play a key role in who wins the £32,000.
Now before your alarm bells begin ringing, 'the Real Deal' will be making the draw rather than stepping inside the world famous small hall, unless Barry Hearn has got a trick up his sleeve!
Prizefighter began their fistic feast in April 2008 when little known Irish heavywight Martin Rogan lifted the crown and have since had two further heavyweight nights which saw current Commonwealth holder Sam Sexton and 2010 European heavyweight champion Audley Harrison both grab the gold.
Harrison now seems set to challenge WBA champion David Haye on November 13th in Manchester.
Despite its critics, Harrison's victory alone testifies to Prizefighter's pulling power as director Eddie Hearn boasted.
"You only have to look at Audley as proof just how Prizefighter can fast track a fighter's career, winning this event raises your profile and the winner of Prizefighter Heavyweights IV will be bang in line for a shot at the title."
The 14th edition has already attracted interest and the full line up will be announced at the beginning of September.
Although there hasn't been any official confirmation, names such as Michael Sprott, Matt Skelton, John Mcdermott and rising prospect Richard Towers seem good bets to be involved among the eight participants.
Roll on October!
