Herbie goes verbally bananas at weigh in

Herbie Hide showed he was ready for fight action looking in superb sculptured condition scaling 14st 4lbs 8oz at today’s prizefighter cruiserweights weigh in. The Crowne Plaza Hotel Shoreditch London hosted and also included Hide throwing a few verbals towards opponent Wayne Brooks.

As Herbie climbed aboard the scales and raised his hands he proudly said “No sauna just hard work.”

At 38, Hide has one of the most outstanding physiques in boxing and proves the old adage that age is just a number.

Hide then sat with the Matchroom team in an adjacent room sharing stories and looking in good spirits, but that changed once Wayne touched down.

Welshman Brooks arrived half an hour late and with Herbie already dressed then found himself on the end of Hide’s tongue.

As Brooks walked in the small room Herbie sparked into life. “Are you trying to stare me out?” questioned the nuts-by-nature Norfolk native.

Hide hadn’t quite finished his warm welcome for the quiet 23-year-old Welshman.

“You think I would be scared of you? I’ve fought the best.”

Matchroom head of boxing John Wischhusen then asked Herbie to show a little respect and reminded the former world champion of his pre-fight scuffle with Michael Bentt in 1994 that John found himself in the middle of.

As Brooks climbed onto the scales remaining calm and focused Herbie had more in store but waited for his opening.

That opportunity came as Brooks was being interviewed by Sky’s Ed Robinson and Hide jumped in urging Ed to ask Wayne why is his leg shaking, but Ed got on with the job to finish his piece.

There was then talk of the two having to pose for photos to which Herbie was eagerly waiting but wise owl Wischhusen drew on his past experiences giving that idea the ko.

As Herbie left the room you could have heard a pin drop.

He then walked into and down the corridor before continuing chatting about Brooks' alleged stare to trainer Graham Everett.

And if this is anything to go by, Herbie seems like he is in the mood to drop his man.
