Haye v Harrison weigh in open to the public
Fight fans in Manchester are invited to head down to The Lowry Arts and Entertainment Centre on Friday (November 12) afternoon, as WBA world heavyweight champion David Haye and challenger Audley Harrison weigh in ahead of Saturday's blockbuster showdown.
The official pre-fight weigh-in begins at 2 pm, and is open to the general public. The atmospheric Lowry Arts and Entertainment Centre holds around 1,700 people and Haye expects the city to come out in force on Friday afternoon.
“This will be everybody's first glimpse into how we've both prepared and what kind of shape we'll be coming to the ring in,” explained Haye. “I use the weigh-in as an opportunity to look into the soul of my opponent and, more often than not, realise he doesn't fancy what he's got coming to him the following day.
“I'm expecting Audley (above right, image courtesy L Lustig) to come in light and healthy, but I also know he'll be scared senseless once he sees the shape I'm in.”
The champion continued: “I know Manchester fight fans are some of the most passionate fans in the world and it would be great if we packed The Lowry Theatre on Friday. Weigh-ins in this country are never really a big deal, whereas in America they make a lot more of them. They are major happenings Stateside.
“It would be fantastic to create a real atmosphere on Friday and show the rest of the world just how big this fight is in the UK."
