Hatton finally admits 'It's over'

Ricky Hatton has admitted he's been 'clutching at straws' with the pretence that he might ever return to the ring and has finally called time on his career.

In a video for a tabloid newspaper, Hatton apologises for his transgressions and admits at the moment he considers himself to be a failure.

"I'm currently in The Priory dealing with depression due to not being able to cope with my retirement from boxing.  I've been binge drinking heavily and dabbling in other daft and silly things but it's going to be the toughest fight of my life and I'm here to win it."

Hatton then goes on to apologise to his fans, the BBBoC, his family and girlfriend before saying "People say to me, 'Are you going to fight again?' and I say 'I'm not sure, I've renewed me licence, I might do, I might do...I think I'm clutching at straws.

"I know it's gone and I think for me to move on and get out of this depression I need to admit to myself, 'Son, it's over, get on with your life'."
