Frenkel ready for Maccarinelli challenge

Unbeaten German banger Alexander Frenkel (22-0, 17 KOs) faces the biggest test of his career on Saturday night in Birmingham.

Ukraine-born Frenkel challenges Wales' European cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli (32-4, 25 KOs).

“I don´t care about the name of my opponent – all that matters to me is the title that is on the line,” he said.

“For me every fight is the most important fight of my career. I have never been to England before so I am really keen to go there to win my fight and see a bit of the country. I am looking forward to it.”

I saw Frenkel in the flesh on the undercard of David Haye-Nikolai Valuev - but not for long. He smashed shot former IBF champ Kelvin Davis in 127 seconds. This should be a good contest - while it lasts. Enzo can hit hard and, as we all know, is vulnerable with it.

“There is so much talent on our team and I am convinced that Alexander will be a future champion,” said his promoter Kalle Sauerland. “He is unbeaten, fearless and is travelling to England to shock the boxing world.”
