Former champ Honeywood hitting the road for charity

Former Southern Area lightweight champ Ian 'Hyper' Honeywood is back doing his roadwork - but don't worry, as much as he'd love to, the 45-year-old from Bexleyheath isn't making a comeback.

Honeywood, whose 19-5-1 career included a losing 1990 challenge to Carl Crook for the Lonsdale belt, is doing the London Marathon in aid of a school for disabled children.

"I am running for the Marjorie McClure school in Chislehurst. It is a specialist school for disabled children," said Honeywood.

"I have visited the school, and it is a tear jerker. A bright child wished me luck through a voice box which she controlled with her head as she was disabled.

"It touched me, so I hope some people could do a little to help these children. I am sorry to keep waffling on but could you please ask your friends and colleagues to help.

"There is a web link at the justgiving website. If you can help it would be a great, not for me but for them.

"If you go to www.justgiving.com and type in Majorie McClure, you'll find it."

Needless to say, all at BoxRec support Ian in his efforts and wish him and his very worthy charity the very best of luck.
