Exclusive - Booth hit by world title postponement

Jason Booth’s IBF super-bantamweight title challenge to Canada’s Steve Molitor, (right) scheduled to take place on July 23, has been postponed due to the Canadian champion suffering an injury during training.

Booth’s trainer, Tony Harris, confirmed to BoxRec News last night that Molitor has broken a bone in his foot which is likely to rule him out of action until September. The fight is expected to be rescheduled for Friday 10 September.

Frank Maloney’s bill at the Rainton Meadows Arena in Houghton-le-Spring still goes ahead on July 23. Matthew Marsh’s vacant Commonwealth title super-bantamweight clash with the unbeaten Kris Hughes is now expected to top the bill.

The undercard will be headed by Nigel Wright’s vacant English light-welterweight championship matchup against Dean Harrison whilst Olympian Tony Jeffries will bid to record his eighth straight win in front of his local fans.
