Evensen aiming to use Burns as blueprint
Andreas Evensen is using Ricky Burns' shock win over Roman Martinez as a blueprint to take the Scot's WBO super-featherweight title at Glasgow's Braehead Arena tonight.
"It was a big shock and a big upset in the boxing world because Ricky was a big underdog," the Bogota-born Norwegian told BBC Scotland.
"I am hoping to provide another shock for the boxing world.
"This is my chance to achieve my main goal in boxing so I will grab that with both hands."
Evensen has only had 14 fights with his sole reverse coming against top Canadian Benoit Gaudet, who went on to box for the WBC title. However, Evensen's last couple of fights have been at featherweight.
"I am always fighting boxers who are bigger so I am used to it. It is a step up in weight for me, from featherweight to super-featherweight but I don't see it as a problem.
"I have been training with welterweights in Norway so I am prepared to meet a stronger and heavier man.
"Ricky Burns belongs in lightweight so maybe he has a bit more problem making the weight than I do."
