'Chisora beats Haye any day of the week' claims trainer

We have seen and heard heavyweight Derek Chisora making boastful predictions and doing outrageous things, but his trainer Don Charles has a claim that may even beat those of his garrulous fighter.

“If Derek was to fight David Haye tomorrow there would only be one winner. It’s all about styles and Derek beats him any day of the week.”

“Derek is the best heavyweight in the country and he would beat up Haye.”

Chisora is considered by some to be a hot heavyweight prospect but with a statement like this it is obvious he believes Del Boy is ready to cook up a storm.

“Derek has a fantastic defence, I can count on my ten fingers how many punches he has taken, which is one of the reasons why he’s avoided. He has had just 12 fights in three years.”

Don who added Derek has progressed immensely in skill during his last four fights also has a message for Tyson Fury who has been claiming to want a fight with Chisora.

“Talk is cheap. Tyson doesn’t want to fight Derek.”

Charles has become used to his fighters finding difficulty in landing quality opponents given that he is also the trainer of Commonwealth light-welterweight champion Ajose Olusegun and exciting light-middleweight Yassine El Maachi.

Don trains his men at My Gym in Finchley Central and is looking forward to a gym renovation enabling him more space to perfect his pugilists.

“I’m a perfectionist,” said Charles. Looking at his three awkward but talented fighters it’s no surprise that they have a shortage of takers.

Don doesn’t think a fight with Haye will happen in the near future as Derek currently holds no title.

But I think Haye would be a prospective opponent when Derek brings a little more to the table.

Could you imagine a press conference with Haye and Chisora?

You could shift tickets for that alone!
