Hollywood, USA: Heavy: Timur Ibragimov (29-2-1) W TKO 10 Gurcharan Singh (20-1-0). Welter: Brad Solomon (13-0) W TKO 6 Wilfredo Negron (26-15-1). Heavy: Luis Ortiz (3-0) W PTS 8 Kendrick Releford (22-14-2). Uzbek Ibragimov, 35, too sharp and accurate for Indian Singh. Puts the pressure on late, floors Singh, 32, in ninth and has him helpless on the ropes when the referee stops the fight. Eight wins in a row since back-to-back losses to Calvin Brock and Tony Thompson derailed him. First fight for Singh since March 2009. Singh beat Colin Kenna and Alek Selezens in fights here.
Lanky Solomon, 27, continues to look an outstanding prospect as he showed some brilliant touches before halting trial horse Negron. Wins vacant WBA International and WBC Latino titles. Solomon one to watch. Cuban southpaw Ortiz, 31, a former amateur star, has too much class for Releford and wins on scores of 79-72 twice and 80-72.

Pathum Thani, Thailand: Bantam: Pungluang (29-1) W KO 1 Joel Rafols (11-8-2). August 26 Los Angeles, USA: Super Feather: Ronny Rios (12-0) W KO 4 Levi Brea (18-9-3). Body shots from Rios too much for Brea. Rios had a point deducted for a low blow in the second. Even fight in third, but body punches put Brea down twice in fourth for kayo.
Hamburg, Germany: Middle: Hamid Rahimi (16-0) W TKO 4 Armen Azizani (9-11).Afghan-born Rahimi wins interim WBA PABA title. In front all the way and floors and stops Georgian Azizani. Not sure how a Georgian qualifies to fight for the Pacific and Asian title.
August 27
Rosario, Argentina: Light Welter: Lucas Matthysse (27-0,1ND) W KO 1 Rogelio Castaneda (26-16-3,1ND). Welter: Sebastian Lujan (34-5-1,1ND) W TKO 7 Emilio Julio Julio (18-6-1). Pig-tailed banger Matthysse, 27, puts right the only minor blemish on his record as he floors experience Mexican three times. When they met in September 2008 a clash of heads in the first round left Castaneda, 33, with a bad cut, and it was declared a no decision. This time a left hook dropped Castaneda half way through the round and after two more knockdowns Castaneda’s corner threw in the towel. Now 26 by KO/TKO for the WBO No 3.
All-out aggression from “Iron” Lujan , 30, too much for Colombian With Lujan swarming all over him, the badly hurt Colombian was deducted a point for holding in the fifth. Julio, a sucker for Lujan’s right hand swipes, showed a good chin, but after taking heavy punishment in sixth retired at the end of the round. WBC No 7 Lujan, 30, since losing to Jamie Moore in 2007, has won his last eight including victories over Charlie Navarro, Jose Luis Castillo and Walter Matthysse. Lujan has had two world title shots, losing to Antonio Margarito for the WBO welter title in 2005 and Sergey Dzindziruk for the WBO light middle title in 2006.
Dover, USA: Middle: Jose Angel Rodriguez (16-2-1) W PTS 12 Russell Jordan ( 15-8). Heavy: Amir Mansour (10-0) W KO 2 Sam Brown (4-7-2). In battle of southpaws the body attack of “Silver Boy” Rodriguez gives him early lead, but “Spiderman” Jordan has good spell in middle rounds and cut Rodriguez in sixth. Rodriguez takes over as Jordan fades and wins vacant IBF North American title with unanimous verdict on scores of 118-110, 117-111 and 115-113. Southpaw Mansour looks a real danger man as he floors poor Brown twice and puts him out cold for a couple of minutes. Second win for the 38-year-old after being released from serving an eight year sentence on a felony drugs conviction. Shades of Sonny Liston perhaps.
Atlanta, USA: Light: Zahir Raheem (31-3) W TKO 2 Robert Valenzuela (53-54-2).It is a long way down from beating Erik Morales to fighting Roberto Valenzuela in an eight round bout in Atlanta. Raheem hurt Valenzuela in first and dropped him in the second with the referee stopping the fight as Valenzuela got to his feet. Raheem had outpointed Valenzuela in his last fight in April.
Khon Kaen, Thailand: Fly: Panomroonlek (29-1) W KO 3 Ego Yohan. Vicious left body shots from southpaw Panomroonlek, rated WBC No 10 ends this mismatch as he kayos game , but obscure, Indonesian.

New Zealand-born Talipeau, 26, floors Congolese-born Sonni, 25, in fifth on the way to a wide unanimous verdict. Scores 80-73, 79-72 and 78-73. Sonni has lost five of his last six. Kenyan Kariuki, carrying too much weight, has to settle for a majority verdict over former double Australian champ Clenshaw in battle of 33-year-olds. Scores 60-53, 59-55 and 57-57!
Tijuana, Mexico: Light Welter: Misael Castillo (17-0) W PTS 8 Jesus Gurrola (13-2-2). Puncher Castillo wins Guante Azteca tournament with points victory over tough Gurrola. Castillo won his first two bouts in the tournament by first round kayo and has 15 wins by KO/TKO.
Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico: Super Fly: Cesar Seda Jr (19-0) W PTS 10 Jose Lopez (39-9-2). Welter: Kenny Galarza (14-1) W TKO 4 Ilido Julio (40-19-1). First fight for Lopez, 38, since losing his WBO title to Marvin Sonsona in September. Seda wins vacant WBA Fedlatin title. Light Welter: Alex De Jesus (20-1) W PTS 6 Jose Roman (11-26-5). Super Bantam: McJoe Arroyo (5-0) W PTS 6 Sigfredo Medina (3-2). Super Fly: McWilliams Arroyo (4-1) W PTS 6 Jiovanne Fuentes (2-1). Time and young tiger Segura finally caught-up with 35-year-old Calderon in this unification bout. As expected the classy southpaw boxing of the little Puerto Rican gave him an early lead, but Mexican Segura would not be denied. He hunted Calderon down in the fifth and sixth and floored with a body punch in the seventh with Calderon taking the full count on one knee. WBA champion Segura, 28, adds the WBO title and now has 21 by KO/TKO. It was title fight No 20 for Calderon in his reign as WBO straw and light fly champion. Calderon says he will fight on.
Gonzalez, 27, won a real war of unbeaten Puerto Ricans as he floored Marengo in the fifth and forced a stoppage in the sixth. Routine clear points win for “Pollo” De Jesus. Only thing not routine is that De Jesus was allowed out of jail, where he is serving a long sentence, for this fight, and then goes back to jail. Both Arroyo twins win every round on the way to easy points victories over very modest opposition.
Buenos Aires, Argentina: Light Welter: Marcos Maidana (29-1) W PTS 12 DeMarcus Corley (37-14-1). Light Welter: Guillermo de Jesus Paz (19-20-3,1ND) W PTS 10 Claudio Olmedo (19-3,1ND). Light Welter: Cesar Cuenca (39-0, 2 ND) W PTS 8 Mauricio Pereira (15-1-1). Light Welter: Martin Coggi (24-4-1) W TKO 2 Juan Abrego (8-6-1). The mismatch turned out not to be one. “El Chino” Maidana, retained his WBA interim title for the third time with a unanimous decision over 36-year-old former WBO champ “Chop Chop” Corley, but it was far from easy. After two close rounds a clash of heads saw Maidana cut on the right eye lid. It turned rough in the fourth with both boxers warned to clean up their act. Maidana had Corley shaky in the sixth and floored him for nine in the seventh Maidana did not follow-up his advantage and Corley came into the fight more, hurting Maidana in tenth, winning the eleventh and sharing the last as Maidana seemed to tire. Not an impressive showing by Maidana, but best showing for years by Corley after losing two of his previous three fights to Fariz Kazimov and Fred Hernandez. Scores 117-110, 116-110 and 115-112.
Upset as journeyman Paz reverses a June defeat and overcomes early cut to outbox hard punching Olmedo and wins WBC Latino title on scores of 97-93, 96-94 and 94-95. Olmedo had won 18 of his 22 fights by KO/TKO. At the other end of the power scale non-puncher Cuenca, 29, remained unbeaten in 41 with a points win over formerly unbeaten Pereira. Southpaw Cuenca, who has only won one of his fights by TKO/KO, took it on scores of 79-71 ½ twice and 79-72. Both fighters lost a point for infractions. Southpaw Coggi, 27, son of the former WBA champion makes it 13 by KO/TKO.
Cebu City, Philippines: Feather: Rey Bautista (28-2) W TKO 4 Alejandro Barrera (20-3). Fly: Milan Melinda (22-0) W KO 2 Jin-Man Joen (13-4-1). Light Welter: Jimrex Jaca (31-6-3) W KO 1 Pipino Cuevas Jr (14-6). Straw: Florante Condes (24-5-1) W PTS 8 Sofyan Effgendi (10-8-2). Bautista and Barrera in brawl which ends in fourth with Barrera badly cut on left eyelid. Former WBO super bantam title challenger “Boom Boom Bautista, 24, now 22 by KO/TKO, rebuilding with fourth win after shock loss to Heriberto Ruiz in 2008. “Little Fox” Barrera, 30, embarrassed, but not in the ring. Was overweight so took off his shorts to reduce weight, only for the flag covering his modesty to fall down to the dismay/enjoyment of the ladies attending the weigh-in.
A la gym star Melinda, top rated straw with the IBF, halts outclassed Korean and kayos him with a left uppercut in two. Just 144 seconds and a right from southpaw Jaca, 27, demolishes Mexican Cuevas. Win No 17 by KO/TKO for Jaca, who lost to Juan Manuel Marquez for interim WBO feather title in 2206. Cuevas is not a patch on his father, the former WBA welter champion. Former IBF straw champ in first fight since loss to Nkosinathi Joyi in June 2009, scores knockdown in sixth and wins on scores of 80-71 from all three judges.
Las Piedras, Puerto Rico: Super Feather: Luis Cruz (15-0) W TKO 5 Hevinson Herrera (14-5-1). Super Bantam: Jayson Velez( 13-0) W PTS 8 Isaac Hidalgo (7-5-2). Prospect “La Marvilla” Velez taken the distance by Hidalgo but wins wide unanimous verdict.
Kiev, Ukraine: Super Fly: Wladimir Sidorenko (22-2-1) W PTS 12 Mbwana Matumla (19-5,1ND). Cruiser: Dmytro Kucher (10-0) W PTS 8 Joey Vargas (11-6-1). Former WBA bantam champ Sidorenko, in his first fight since May 2009, and his first fight in his home country, takes easy, wide verdict over Tanzanian southpaw. Aggressive two-handed body attack from Sidorenko has 35-year-old Matumla on the defensive until the last three rounds when Matumla landed a few punches. Scores 120-108 twice and 119-109 as Sidorenko wins something called the vacant WBC International Silver belt. Cruiser hope Kucher, 26, floors Ugandan Joey Vegas in second and wins every round. Scores 80-72 on all three cards.
Atlantic City, USA: Heavy: Chazz Witherspoon (27-2) W TKO 7 Livin Castillo (16-9). Light Heavy: Farah Ennis ( 16-0) W TKO 3 Reg Pena (6-4). Witherspoon, 28, finally breaks down Ecuadorian southpaw Castillo and scores knockdown in seventh to force stoppage. Eighteen by KO/TKO for “ The Gentleman” in first fight since stoppage loss to Tony Thompson in December . Philadelphian Ennis body attack too much for outclassed Pena who takes the knee for the full count in third. Ten by KO/TKO for 27-year-old Ennis.
Fallon, USA: Light Heavy: Otis Griffin (23-6-2) W PTS 8 Bill Bailey (10-10). Middle: Brandon Gonzales (13-0,1ND) W TKO 3 Byron Tyson (9-2-2). Griffin looks all of his 33 years as he struggles with bulldog style of modest Bailey and has to settle for unpopular decision. Scores 78-74 twice and 79-73. Bailey had lost six of his last seven. Gonzales on top, has Tyson down in first, cut in second, and losers corner call for fight to be stopped after two minutes of third.
Pittsburg, USA: Super Feather: Monty Meza-Clay (29-3) W TKO 3 Allen Litzau (13-6). Light Welter: Derrick Gainer (41-7-1) W PTS 6 Angel Hernandez (14-6). Meza-Clay, 29, returning after operations to his hand, shoulder and elbow, dishes out enough of a beating for Litzau’s corner throw in the towel late in the third round. First fight since June 2009 and consecutive losses to Jorge Solis and Fernando Beltran, for Meza-Clay. Litzau now four losses in last five. The smoke is there but the fire has gone out. In his first fight for over three years “Smoke” Gainer, 38, the former WBA featherweight champion, was floored in the first round and only just edged out club fighter Hernandez on a split decision. Hernandez had lost his last three fights. Let's hope that is the end of a short comeback.
Virgin Beach, USA: Light: Dorin Spivey (38-6,1ND) W PTS 10 Leo Martinez (15-14). Light: Meacher Major (17-4-1,1ND) W TKO 3 Jamar Saunders (5-6-1). Spivey, 37, given a torrid time by Martinez. Despite forcing two standing counts in the first round Spidery was under pressure much of the way from aggressive Martinez, but his better boxing saw him through on scores of 98-90, 95-94 and 95-92. Bahamian Major, a loser in four rounds to Spivey in November, wins over ordinary Saunders who is retired in his corner at the end of third due to a bad cut over his right eye.

Sai remains unbeaten and retains Ghana title for second time. Laryea wins vacant Ghana title. Netty , a loser to Rendall Monroe by a mile in for the vacant Commonwealth title in 2009, wins a split decision in Ghana title eliminator. No records quoted as I have no faith in any record for fighters from Ghana. (Very good point, Eric - Ed.)
Montreal, Canada: Light Welter: Henry Lundy (19-1-1) W PTS 10 Omri Lowther (14-2). Middle: Kevin Bizier (12-0) W TKO 3 Leo Rojas (8-11-3,1ND). Light Heavy: Nicholson Poulard (15-3) W TKO 3 Alfredo Contreras (11-9). Light: Arash Usmanee (7-0) W TKO 2 Carlos Martinez (5-9). Easy win for late sub Hank Lundy as he proves too busy for Lowther in very technical match. Bosses the fight, shaking Lowther in eighth and ninth. Lundy, a late sub, did not make the weight and had to pay a forfeit, but got back on track after a stoppage loss to John Molina in July. Lowther, from Georgia, also 26, won silver medals in both the US and PAL championships as an amateur, but is struggling as a pro. Scores 100-90 twice and 98-92. Bizier, 26, batters away at Peruvian Rojas for three rounds and Rojas retires at the end of the third. Now eight by KO/TKO for Bizier, but just one win in his last ten for Rojas. Poulard, 32, elder brother of Jean Pascal, continues his good run as he floors Mexican Contreras twice and stops him in third. Only one loss in his last 15 for Poulard, and that was to world rated Sebastien Demers. Former top amateur Usmanee, from Alberta, and Canadian national amateur champion in 2005/6/7, makes it seven wins as he halts poor Martinez.
Mazatlan, Mexico: Bantam: Tomoki Kameda (16-0) W PTS 10 Stephane Jamoye (18-1). Light Fly: Jose Rodriguez (24-0) W KO 7 Karluis Diaz (10-1). Great fight - pity about the arithmetic. Classic, exciting boxer vs. banger match between two unbeaten prospects. Clever boxing from Belgian EU champ Jamoye as his fast jab and movement gives him the early edge. Kameda, 19, takes middle rounds and shakes Belgian in fourth. Jamoye, 20, bounces back to take ninth and Kameda the last. Scores 96-95, 95-96 and 96-96 as Jamoye retains WBC Youth title-for a short while. A recount of the score cards shows an error and scores corrected to 96-95 Jamoye and two scores of 96-95 for Mexican-based Kameda. Jamoye showed he is for real as Kameda is a good prospect. “El Torito” Rodriguez, 20, floors Colombian three times and finishes him in seventh in third defence of his WBC Youth Intercontinental title.
Tijuana, Mexico: Light Welter: Juan Pablo Lopez (17-0) W TKO 4 Luis Rey (8-5-1). Super Fly: Arturo Badillo (18-1) W KO 1 Arcadio Salazar (6-5-2). After quiet first round it is all Lopez and “Che Che” hurts Rey in third and finishes him with a left uppercut to the body in fourth. Now 16 by KO/TKO for Lopez. Badilla returns after loss in overly ambitious match with Ronald Barrera in April, and floors Salazar three times for quick kayo.
Mexicali, Mexico: Feather: Cisco Leal (15-5-2 ) DRAW 12 Miguel Angel Gonzalez (11-3). Super Feather: Nery Saguilan (19-0) W TKO 9 Filomeno Jaramillo (6-5). Middle: David Lopez (39-12 ) W PTS 12 Saul Roman (32-8).Leal climbs off the floor twice in the first round to win a controversial majority decision over hard punching Gonzalez. Scores 115-114, 112-111 and 115-115. Later the local Commission found an error in the cards and changed the result to a draw. Not a good night for Mexican judges. “Panther” Saguilan, 22, retains WBC Latino title as he floors Jaramillo three times and halts him in ninth. Punishing battle between Lopez , 32, and Roman. Lopez, inactive for 16 months, too strong as he slowly busts up Roman and wins wide unanimous verdict on scores of 119-109, 118-110 and 118-112 to take vacant WBC USNBC title and extends winning run to 15.Leal, Lopez and Jamarillo are all southpaws.
Toluca, Mexico: Super Bantam: Giovanni Caro (19-8-4) W TKO 1 Franklin Varela (18-5). Fly : Oscar Blanquet (23-3-1) W KO 4 Gerardo Pinon (11-4-2). Super Feather: Juan Antonio Rodriguez (12-2) W TKO 9 Ariel Vasquez (10-2,1ND). Super Feather: Carlos Cardenas (13-4-1) W TKO 2 Jorge Urias . Typical explosive show from “Ruso” Caro as he floors Venezuelan Varela for stoppage win in 139 seconds. Caro wins vacant WBC International title. Two knockdowns in the fourth scored by Blanquet, 25, sees him kayo “Little Hands of Stone” Pinon and retain his WBC Continental Americas title for the fourth time and go to 13 wins by KO/TKO. Pinon was stretchered out of the ring and taken to hospital for observation. In an all-southpaw battle Rodriguez applies a steady beating to Nicaraguan Vasquez who did not come out for the ninth round. Third defence of his WBC Youth title for Rodriguez who has won his last eight and has eleven wins by KO/TKO. Mexican-based Venezuelan Cardenas overwhelms poor Urias. After a patchy start to his career, Cardenas has now lost only one of his last nine fights.
