April 13

Hollywood, USA: Heavy: Shannon Briggs (49-5-1,1ND) W KO 1 Rafael Pedro (20-9-1). Waste of time, but not much time wasted as 38-year-old former WBO champion “The Cannon” Briggs unleashes one right hand and kayos 6’7” Cuban after just 28 seconds.

Perth, Australia: Cruiser: Danny Green (29-3) W KO 3 Manny Siaca (22-7). Super Feather: Will Tomlinson (12-0-1) W PTS 12 Oscar Bravo (13-1). Welter: Naufel Ben Rabah (29-3) W PTS 8 Solomon Egberime (23-3). “The Green Machine” is too powerful for 34-year-old Puerto Rican. A right puts Siaca down at the end of the second. Siaca complains of head butt and punch to the back of the head in third. Looks as if he is about to take out his gum shield but referee instructs him to put it back in and fight goes on. A left hook and big right puts the former WBA champ down. Additional punch from Green looks to have landed when Siaca on one knee but referee counts him out. Second defence of his IBO title for Green, 37, who halted Roy Jones in one round in December.

Prospect “Wild Will” Tomlinson, 23 just too good for Chilean. Hurts Bravo on numerous occasions but paces himself for the twelve rounds wins on scores of 120-108 twice and 118-110 and collects IBO Inter Continental title. Tunisian Ben Rabah, 32, outboxes Nigerian clearly on scores of 80-71 twice and 79-72 to repeat 2003 result.

Memphis, USA: Heavy: Tony Thompson (34-2) W TKO 4 Owen Beck (29-5). Light: Henry Lundy W (18-0-1) W PTS 10 Tyrese Hendrix (18-1-1). Feather: Gary Russell Jr ( 9-0) W TKO 1 Carlos Diaz (10-23-4).  “Tiger” Thompson, 38, has no trouble with younger, 33-year-old, Jamaican. Scores knockdown in first and is on top all the way until Beck saved by referee. Beck allegedly has problems with his eyes, but local Commission still licensed him. Three useful wins now for Thompson since losing to Wladimir Klitschko in title fight in  2008. Former WBA title challenger Beck on his way out. Lundy wins vacant NABO title as he floors Hendrix in first and sixth round and wins on scores of 100-88, 99-88 and 98-90. Six inside the distance now for Olympian Russell.

Sainte Quentin, France: Feather: Justin Savi (24-0) W TKO 7 Cyril Thomas (36-4-4). Super Bantam: Jerome Thomas (9-0) W PTS 10 Bertrand Bossel (9-7-2). Super Feather: Guillame Frenois (18-0) W TKO 2 Yordan Vasilev (6-13-2). Feather: Philippe Frenois (12-1-1) W PTS 6 Stoyan Serbezov (3-6). Savi comes out swinging and Cyril is down in the second but fights his way back into it over next three rounds. The Benin boxer turns up the heat again and a clash of heads leaves Thomas with a bad cut. Still under pressure Frenchman retires at the end of the seventh. Savi, 25, wins inaugural WBC Silver Belt, but it may be the end of the road for Thomas, a Nicky Cook victim back in 2004.

Younger brother Jerome outclasses Swiss Bossel and wins vacant WBC Mediterranean title on scores of 120-106 and 120-107 twice. Frenois brothers register wins. Guillame has it easy, much too good for Bulgarian who retires after two rounds of punishment, and Philippe bounces back from loss with points win over another Bulgarian. Score 59-55.

Salisbury, USA: Fernando Guerrero (18-0) W TKO 2 Mike Walker (19-4-2) .Super Middle: Darnell Boone (17-15-2) W TKO 2 Adonis Stevenson (13-1). Middle: Shawn Porter (14-0 ) W KO 1 Raul Pinzon (17-5,1ND). Dominican southpaw prospect Guerrero finds charging Walker easy to handle and has him under pressure and not fighting back when referee stops it in second. On paper Walker looked a reasonable test for 22-year-old Guerrero. Too easy for Olympic alternate Porter against substitute as one big right lays out poor Colombian Pinzon in first. Neither loser made the stipulated weight for their fights. Upset as Canadian hope Stevenson floored and halted in two by journeyman Boone who had lost five straight going in.

Valladolid, Spain: Super Bantam: Kiko Martinez (22-3) W TKO 3 Dario Azuaga (77-19-2, 2ND). Spanish former European champion Martinez wins vacant WBO Latino title as he floors 35-year-old Paraguayan three times. Bout No 100 for Azuaga. Martinez halted Bernard Dunne in one round but lost twice on points to Rendall Munroe in European Title fights.

Emalahleni, South Africa: Light Middle: Tshepo Mashego (19-10) W TKO 2 Johannes Sallie (6-4). Total mismatch as Mashego floors novice twice in first round and again in second for stoppage. Mashego, 34, retains South African title, but Sallie way out of his league.

Atlantic City, USA: Middle: Sergio Martinez (45-4-2) W PTS 12 Kelly Pavlik (36-2). Welter: Mike Jones (21-0) W TKO 5 Hector Munoz (18-3-1). Light Middle: Ron Hearns (25-1) W KO 1 Delray Raines (17-8-1, 3 ND). Heavy: Dominic Guinn (33-6-1) W RTD 7 Terrell Nelson (8-10, 2ND). Middle: Matt Korobov (11-0) W PTS 8 Joshua Snyder (8-5-1). Upset as 35-year-old Martinez moves up from light middle to take Pavlik’s WBC and WBO titles. Slick boxing by Martinez who wins early rounds and cuts Pavlik on left eye lid. Pavlik makes his strength tell in middle rounds and scores flash  knockdown in seventh, but Martinez not hurt. Kelly cut over right eye in eighth and Argentinian takes over from ninth with Pavlik now hampered by gash and Martinez wraps up a clear unanimous decision on scores of 116-111, 115-111 and 115-112. Argentinian has come a long way since his wins over Richard Williams and Adriano Stone in 2003/2004.

Unbeaten Jones too good for Munoz and is in control all the way. Doctor checks Munoz at end of fourth and when he is hurt again in fifth referee stops it. Jones NABA title on line and he picks up vacant NABO title. Hearns floor Raines twice for stoppage in 107 seconds. Poor match.

Guinn floors Nelson in first but not impressive against modest opposition with one judge having them even when Nelson retires at the end of seventh. Methodical display from former double world amateur champion as Russian wins unanimous verdict on scores of 79-73 and 78-74 twice.

Magdeburg, USA: Super Middle: Robert Stieglitz (38-2) W PTS 12 Eduard Gutknetch (18-1).Middle: Sebastian Zbik (29-0) W PTS 12 Domenico Spada (30-3). Feather: Marcel Meyerdiercks (16-0) W PTS 10 Emiliano Salvini (13-11-1). Bantam: Pal Bedak (7-0 ) W PTS 6 Edgar Jimenez (8-4-1).Cruiser: Mateusz Masternak (19-0) W TKO 2 Marco Heinichen (11-23-2).Excellent technical battle, as despite giving away height and reach, Stieglitz’s aggression and fine combinations give him the edge over Kazak-born German challenger, and he retains his WBO title on scores of 119-108, 117-111 and 117-110 which does not reflect how close most rounds were. In a return bout 28-year-old Zbik retains WBC interim title with unanimous verdict over Italian. Zbik suffers cuts from head clashes in fourth round but superior skills see him dominate the bout. Scores 117-110 and 116-111 twice with Spada losing a point for the head clashes in the fourth. Zbik won a close decision in their earlier encounter last July.

Routine night for prospect Meyerdiercks as he easily handles Italian journeyman and wins wide unanimous verdict on scores of 98-93 and 98-92 twice. Hungarian prospect Bedak mixes it with aggressive Mexican and wins 59-55 on all cards. Pointless mismatch as 22-year-old Pole Masternak floors Heinichen twice and corner throws in towel.

Montreal, Canada: Super Middle: Luciano Bute (26-0) W TKO 3 Edison Miranda (33-5). Middle: Renan St Juste (21-1-1 ) W TKO 9 Dionsio Miranda (20-6-2 ). Bantam: Sebastien Gauthier (18-2) W PTS 8 Jason Hayward (6-9, 1ND). Impressive defence of his IBF title as 30-year-old Romanian. Colombian Miranda clowns around, dropping his hands, and Bute accepts the invitation then hurts Miranda with body shots and  finishes him with a southpaw left uppercut. Fifth defence for Bute who will still be a factor irrespective of who wins Super Six. Close battle ended by southpaw St Juste as he floors Colombian with a left and bout stopped when Miranda gets up and is in no condition to fight on. WBC Continental Americas and NABA titles now for 37-year-old St Juste. Comeback victory for Gauthier who wins all the way, flooring Hayward in seventh and takes wide unanimous decision on scores of 80-71 and 79-72 twice.

Pasig City, Philippines: Super Fly: Drian Francisco (19-0-1) W TKO 5 Ricardo Nunez(17-2 ). Wild, free swinging, Francisco floors Panamanian hope twice in first and twice more in fifth. Nunez, rated No 2 by the WBA, out cold from left hook at last knockdown and no count needed. This for WBA International title.

Rosario, Argentina: Light: Oscar Pereyra (21-1) W DIS 7 Patricio Pedrero (21-3-1). “ The Savage” Pereyra presses action and floors Pedrero twice. Controversial ending as referee steps between fighters and Pedrero ignores ref and throws three more punches, one of which flattens Pereyra , earning Pedrero a disqualification.

Hainaut, Belgium: Super Feather: Karim Chakim (20-7) W PTS 12 Antonio Bento(21-8-2). French champ Chakim, 34,wins vacant European Union title with points victory after battle with experienced Portuguese boxer. Nine wins in a row for Chakim who lost on points to Kevin Mitchell in 2005.

Fajardo, Puerto Rico: Cruiser: Carlos Negron (9-0) W KO 1 Will Bailey (10-20-2).Super Fly: McWilliams Arroyo (2-0) W TKO 3 Francisco Rosario (4-2). Super Bantam: McJoe Arroyo (2-0) W PTS 6 Steve Cannell(3-4-3). No test for 6’6” Negron as he kayos Bailey in first. Bailey has now lost six of his last seven. “Terrible Twins” march on. McWilliams gets in some rounds but too good for Dominican and southpaw twin McJoe wins every round against Cannell.
