“The Hitman” returns as former WBA secondary champion eases back with a win over Argentinian Priotti. Moses, 32, starts slowly but works Priotti, 30, over in the third and bloodies and punishes him in fourth. Midway through the round Priotti already looking to his corner for the towel and they finally relent and pull him out before the start of the fifth. Now 18 wins by KO/TKO as Moses restarts after losing his WBA title to Miguel Acosta in May.
Ushona again shows plenty of skill, but also his lack of a big punch. Outclasses 32-year-old Kenyan southpaw, floors him in seventh, but can’t put him away. Ushona, 28 retains WBO African title on scores of 120-108 twice and 120-107. Meroro batters away at 37-year-old Tanzanian until his corner call the fight off at the end of the fifth. Twelve wins in a row for “The Beat Master” since losing to Stan Kastanov in 2007. Marwa lost five of his last six now. Meroro retains WBO African title. Little Ambunda 5’0 ½” tall, has no trouble with inexperienced Zimbabwean dominates all the way and scores three knockdowns in eighth for finish. Ambunda, 30, retains his WBO African title. Former Commonwealth title challenger Shindjuu flattens poor Zimbabwean in first. After a rocky start to his career, Shindjuu has won six of his last seven, losing only to Chris Edwards in a close fight for the Commonwealth title.

Nagoya, Japan: Feather: Hozumi Hasegawa (29-3) W PTS 12 Juan Carlos Burgos (25-1). Super Feather: Takahiro Ao (20-2-1) W PTS 12 Vitali Tajbert (20-2). Bantam: Carlos Cuadras (18-0) W KO 1 Sakchai Sor Tanapinyo. Former WBC bantamweight champion Hasegawa jumps up two divisions to win the vacant WBC featherweight title. The 29-year-old southpaw swept the first four rounds, but Mexican Burgos held him equal over the next three. In the seventh Hasegawa felt the power of the unbeaten Burgos and was badly hurt and in danger of being stopped. He survived but in the eighth was badly cut on his right eyebrow in a clash of heads. The stupid WBC rule meant that even though it was “accidental” Burgos lost a point. Burgos began to show the signs of the punishment from the right hooks and straight lefts from Hasegawa, but knowing he was behind under the open scoring system he drove forward after Hasegawa over the last two rounds, but could not close the gap. Hasegawa won on scores of 117-110 twice and 116-111.Burgos, 22, can come again. He is the nephew of former IBF light fly champ Victor Burgos.
Another Japanese fighter made a successful move up as former WBC featherweight champion Ao, another southpaw, outpointed Tajbert to lift the title. There was little that Tajbert could do to turn the tide in this one. Ao, 26, took the first two rounds and then floored the Kazak-born German in the third with a straight left. Tajbert, making his first defence, suffered cuts around his right eye in the sixth and eighth rounds and did not have the punch to take the fight away from Ao despite a strong finish. Scores 117-112, 116-112 and 115-112. Ao lost his featherweight title to Elio Rojas in July 2009. Tajbert, an excellent technical boxer, won a bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics and won gold and silver at the European and World championships respectively. Mexican hope Cuadras wipes out Thai inside a round.
Madrid, Spain: Cruiser: David Quinones (25-0) W KO 7 Jesus Ruiz (20-6). Middle: Pablo Navascues (25-1-1) W PTS 10 Luis Rodriguez (26-6-1). Light: Petr Petrov (26-2-2) W TKO 7 Arturo Uruzqieta (13-4). Spaniard Quinones wins WBC Silver belt as he proves too strong for modest Mexican and scores kayo in seventh. The 35-year-old Spaniard now has 24 wins by KO/TKO but very poor opposition, 37-year-old. Ruiz was stopped in six rounds by Chad Dawson in a WBC light heavyweight title fight in 2007. Navascues, also 35, floors Mexican in second, but is given a tough time after that and looks lucky to get a majority verdict as he collects vacant WBC Latino title. Best result for Navascues was a draw with former WBC champion Javier Castillejo in 2009. Scores 97-93, 96-93 and 95-95.
Russian Petrov halts game Mexican on a cut and also wins vacant WBC Latino title. Only one loss in his last 21 fights for Petrov, and that was to Vitali Tajbert.
Guadalajara, Mexico: Feather: Rafael Guzman (27-2) W KO 2 Cisco Mateos (20-12-4). Quick win for 24-year-old “Chocho” Guzman as he floors and then kayos veteran Mateos. This the first bout in Gloves Azteca tournament. Mateos, 37, has won only one of his last ten.
Rezzato, Italy: Cruiser: Giulian Ilie (17-4-2) W PTS 12 Cris Dolzanelli (16-2-1). Welter: Leonardo Bundu (23-0-1) W KO 1 Moises Castro (27-14-4). Minor upset as Romanian Ilie, 33, beats stable mate Dolzanelli on a split decision to win vacant IBF Intercontinental title. Ilie scores knockdown in seventh and holds off strong finish by Italian southpaw to win on scores of 116-111, 114-113 and 113-114. Bundu too much for Nicaraguan Castro in all-southpaw battle and halts him in first round. Sierra Leone-born Bundu is unbeaten, but at 36, you have to wonder when he will move up.
Noisy-le-Grand, France: Heavy: Carlos Takam (22-1) W TKO 3 Levan Jomardashvili (20-2). Takam halts Georgian in third. Now 18 by KO/TKO for Cameroons-born Takam, fighting in his adopted home town. Two stoppage losses in a row as Georgian finds it tough when fighting real opposition.
Ferntree Gully, Australia: Welter: Wale Omotoso (18-0) W TKO 4 Juan Alberto Godoy (25-13-1). Another dominating display from Omotoso who has too much skill and power for the experienced Argentinian Godoy. Hurts him with jabs throughout first three rounds and then floors and stops him in fourth. Now 16 by KO/TKO for 25-year-old Nigerian and his last nine in a row. One to watch.
November 27
Las Vegas, USA: Light: Juan Manuel Marquez (52-5-1) W TKO 9 Mike Katsidis (27-3). Welter: Andre Berto (27-0) W TKO 1 Freddy Hernandez (29-2). Light Middle: Erislandy Lara (14-0) W TKO 1 Tim Connors (10-2). Super Feather: Jason Litzau (28-2) W PTS 10 Celestino Caballero (34-3). Light Welter: Walter Estrada (38-13-1) W PTS 8 Nate Campbell (33-7-1,1ND). Light Middle: Keith Thurman (15-0) W KO 4 Favio Medina (23-3-3). Usual Marquez, usual Katsidis. Aussie starts fast and putting pressure on. Marquez staying with him and picking his punches better. Katsidis floors Marquez in third with left hook, but Marquez fighting back strongly at the bell. Both trading heavy shots in fourth, fifth and six, with Marquez going to the body and head. By seventh Katsidis face showing signs of the punishment, and Katsidis looking tired at end of the eighth. In the ninth Marquez hurts Katsidis with an uppercut and launches big follow-up attack that brings finish. Marquez, 37, retains WBA and WBO titles. Katsidis, 30, was WBO interim champion and once again gave full value for every minute of every round.
Big right from WBC champ Berto puts Mexican Hernandez, 31, down. He beats the count but in no condition to go on and it is all over in 127 seconds. Fifth defence for 27-year-old Berto. First time that Hernandez has been stopped. Cuban hope Landry has it easy in a mismatch. Floors poor Connors twice for stoppage. A step up for Caballero as he goes from fighting super bantams to fighting super feather. The difference shows as Litzau able to fight on even terms with Caballero and his quick combinations take Panamanian out of his stride. Plenty of close rounds as they trade inside, but Litzau finish the stronger and wins split verdict on scores of 97-93, 96-94 and 94-96.Fifth win in a row for 27-year-old Litzau since kayo loss to Robert Guerrero for IBF feather title in 2008.
First loss since 2004 for 34-year-old former WBA and IBF super bantam champion Caballero. Big upset as a “washed-up” Estrada outworks, rocks and outscores Campbell who showed nothing. Scores 77-74 twice and 75-76. Although 34-year-old Colombian, Estrada, who lost to Scott Harrison for the WBO featherweight title in 2004, was unbeaten in his last two fights, prior that he had lost 8 out of 9, two by first round kayo. Former IBF, WBA and WBO lightweight champion Campbell, 38, announced his retirement. Lanky power puncher Thurman just too strong for Medina. Busts up his nose in first and scores heavily until finishing it with left hook. Fourteen by KO/TKO for “One Time”.
Helsinki, Finland: Super Middle: Carl Froch (27-1) W PTS 12 Arthur Abraham (31-2). Heavy: Robert Helenius (14-0) W TKO 2 Attila Levin (34-4). Light Welter: Ville Piispanen (16-1-2) DREW 10 Daniel Rasilla (18-4). Light Heavy: Art Hein (14-1) W TKO 3 Sam Couzens (6-3). Masterly display by Froch to outclass Abraham and regain WBC title. Abraham has no answer to the fast, accurate jabs of Froch and is hurt time and again by wicked body shots. Froch sticks to game plan and peppers static Abraham who just plods forward into the punishment, with no back-up plan of his own. Dominance of Froch, 33, illustrated by the scores of 12-108 twice and 119-109. Great performance, but former IBF middle champ Abraham, 30, found wanting in the higher division. Froch puts loss to Mikkel Kessler behind him, but second loss in a row for Abraham in Super 6.
Swedish-born Finn Helenius “The Nordic Nightmare”, starts slowly against veteran Levin but comes alive in the second. Floors big Swede with hard combination and referee halts it when Levin, 34, taking a battering. Helenius, 26, retains his European Union title and wins WBO Intercontinental crown. Local fighter Piispanen seems on the way to a comfortable points win at the halfway mark of this European Union title defence. However, in the second half pressure from tall Spaniard Rasilla, 30,beings to tell and Finn fades and is under heavy pressure at the end, and lucky to get the draw. Scores 115-113, 113-115 and 114-114. Rasilla lost to Paul McCloskey for European title in 2009 and also to Andy Murray. Kazak-born German Hein has Brit Couzens under pressure in third when referee stops it, but Couzens still fighting back at the time.
Oakland, USA: Super Middle: Andre Ward (23-0) W PTS 12 Sakio Bika (28-5-2).Rough, tough defence of his WBA title for Ward as Bika fought hard and made Ward work for the win. Ward cut over both eyes scores consistently with his jab and avoids both the big punches, and the clashing heads, then comes on strong over the second half of the fight. Bika cut in the eleventh and Ward coasts the last to win on scores of 118-110 twice and 120-108.
Tijuana, Mexico: Light Fly: Giovanni Segura (26-1-1) W TKO 8 Manuel Vargas (28-7-1). Light: Miguel Vazquez (27-3) W PTS 12 Ric Dominguez (32-7-2). “The Azteca Warrior” wins again as Segura 28, beats former WBO interim straw champ Vargas in a non title match. The WBA and WBO champ had Vargas down in the first and was well on top up until the fifth, when he seemed to tire and Vargas came on strong. Segura took control again in the sixth and in the seventh a nasty cut was opened over Chango's left eye. It was too bad for him to continue and he did not come out for the eighth round. Overshadowed by the explosive Segura, the 23-year-old Vazquez made an easy success of the first defence of his IBF title as outclassed Dominguez. Vazquez was first to the punch and had his brave fellow Mexican looking a sad and battered man by the end. Scores 120-108, 119-110 and 118-110. The three defeats on the record of Vazquez have been against Saul Alvarez (twice) and Tim Bradley. Dominguez, 25, lost to Humberto Soto for the WBC title in May.
Cebu City, Philippines: Fly: Rocky Fuentes (28-6-2) W TKO 2 Inthanon Sithchamuang (9-4). Fly: Milan Melindo (23-0) W PTS 10 Carlos Tamara (21-6). Welter: Randy Suico (30-6-1) W PTS 8 Arnel Tinampay (12-12-1). Light Fly: Florante Condes (25-5-1) W TKO 7 Kenichi Horikawa (20-9-1). Fuentes retains OPBF title as he kayos modest Thai challenger with left hook. Third defence for Fuentes, 24, but his first in the Philippines. Only loss in his last 16 for Fuentes was a split decision to world rated Richie Merpranum. In a good week for Filipino fighters Melindo, 22, and former IBF light fly champ Tamara, stand toe-to-toe for ten exciting rounds. Melindo landed a heavy punch on the neck of the Colombian in the second, which seemed to daze him, but Tamara never looked like being stopped. The scores for Melindo were 98-92 twice and 97-93, but a lot of the rounds were close. Tamara had won the IBF title in January, but lost it to Luis Lazarte in May. Melindo nullified the Colombian’s height and reach advantages with his aggression. Southpaw Condes, 30, a former IBF straw champ, halts useful Japanese opponent. Former OPBF champ Suico lucky to scrape by on a majority verdict over Tinampay. Scores 78-74, 75-74 and 76-76.
Merida, Mexico: Light Fly: Ivan Meneses (16-8-1) W PTS 10 Juan Kantun (17-2-2) .Unfancied Meneses floors local favourite Kantun in the first and then comes off the floor in the second to score knockdowns in the fifth and ninth on the way to a wide points verdict. Scores 96-90 twice and 96-92.Meneses was halted in four rounds in a challenge for the WBA straw title by Roman Gonzalez in January. Kantun's only previous loss was to world rated Wilbert Uicab.
Gostivar, Macedonia: Cruiser: Nuri Seferi (29-6) W PTS 12 Douglas Otieno (22-5). Albanian retains WBO European title with points win over Kenyan. Seferi lost to Herbie Hide in 2008, and all of his losses have been to good opposition. “Al Capone” Otieno, 29, kayoed in four rounds by Nathan Cleverly in Commonwealth title fight in December 2008. Villanova di Guidonia, Italy: Welter: Daniele Petrucci (27-0-1) W PTS 8 Albert Starikov (14-13-1). Routine payday outing for Petrucci against 37-year-old Russian-born Estonian. The former undefeated European Union champion has beaten both Craig Watson and Neil Sinclair.
Civitavecchia, Italy: Cruiser: Silvio Branco (61-10-2) W PTS 12 Vincenzo Rossitto (39-7-2). Light: Emiliano Marsili (22-0-1) W PTS 10 Pasquale Di Silvio (12-3). Welter: Gianluca Branco (44-3-1) W PTS 6 Semjons Moroseks (8-14-1). Silvio Branco, now 44, retained his WBC International title with a unanimous verdict over Rossitto. The strong, lumbering Rossitto had some success when he could bull Branco to the ropes, and it was tough for the veteran for a while. However, over the later rounds the former WBA light heavyweight champion dominated from the centre of the ring and won on scores of 117-112, 116-112 and 115-114. Rossitto, 34, was beaten in two rounds by David Haye in 2005. Southpaw Marsili takes a little while to calm the wild attacks of aggressive Di Silvio, but then shows his class and his power as he wins on scores of 100-90, 99-92 and 98-93. First defence of his Italian title for Marsili. Luca Branco comes out of “retirement” after his loss to Matthew Hatton, and wins messy six rounder over Latvian.
Accra, Ghana: Light: Max Awuku (21-2-1) W TKO 5 John Larbi. Super Bantam: Isaac Netty W TKO 1 Aminu Turkson. Super Fly: Gabriel Laryea W PTS 10 Yakubu Kareem. Super Middle: Steve Abbey W pts 10 Ernest Amizu. Southpaw Awuku too strong for Larbi who takes a beating and does not come out for round five. Southpaw Awuku, a loser to Liam Walsh for the vacant Commonwealth title in October, had stopped Larbi in two rounds back in 2002. Easy for Netty as he kayos constant loser Turkson (26 in a row) in first. “Messiah” Netty went the distance with Rendall Munroe for the vacant Commonwealth title in May2009. Laryea comes from behind to earn a draw against tough Nigerian, Kick-boxing world champion Abbey ducks back into boxing and upsets favourite Amizu to win West African title. Abbey scores knockdown in second. Amizu had injured his right arm in training and fought with only his left from the third. The report stated that the bout was cut to ten rounds because of his injury, which is a new approach.
Melbourne, Australia: Super Feather: Will Tomlinson (15-0-1) W PTS 12 Rey Labao (19-3). Light Welter: Solomon Egberime (21-3) W KO 9 Daudy Bahari (40-4-1). Welter: Sam Colomban (19-3) W PTS 12 Steve Heremaia (16-5-1). Super Bantam: Dan Iannazzo (18-1) W PTS 6 Skak Max (0-7). Fly: Omari Kimweri (8-2) W PTS 6 Jack Amisa (19-13-2). “Wild Will” marches on. Much too good for useful Filipino southpaw Labao, 24, always in command and wins on scores of 119-109 twice and 120-108 to retain interim WBO Oriental and win vacant WBO Asia Pacific titles.. May be the best prospect in Australia. Nigerian Egberime, 32, has trouble early, but catches up with Indonesian in ninth. Two of Egberime's losses have been to world rated Naoufel Ben Rabah. “The Bali Boy”, 27, usually wins at home, where his dad is the promoter, but he struggles on the road. Nine wins in a row since 2008 loss to Owale Omotoso for 25-year-old from Cameroon. Colomban wins interim WBO Africa and WBO Orient titles with close split decision over New Zealander. Scores 116-113, 115-113 and 112-116. Iannazzo bounces back after July loss to Filipino Allan Jay Tuniacao and takes easy verdict over poor Indonesian. Scores 60-53 twice and 60-52. “Lion Boy” from Tanzania Kimweri makes it six wins in a row since loss to world rated Angky Angkota. Tanzanian, now 28, competed in 2006 Commonwealth Games. Filipino Amisa without a win in his last eight.
Mendoza, Argentina: Welter: Gumersindo Carrasco (13-0) W PTS 10 Juan Manuel Bonanni (13-1-2). Light Welter: Daniel Brizuela (21-1-1) W PTS 6 Adrian Flamenco (12-9-3). Terrific war between two unbeaten fighters, and very controversial decision. Local favourite Carrasco floored with a left in the first, but fires back to floor Bonanni in second. They go toe-to-toe battering each other. Big attack by Bonanni in sixth has Carrasco in serious trouble. Referee applies a standing count. Whilst the count is going on the ring is invaded by locals and Carrasco's brother pushes Bonanni. Ring cleared, but no disqualification. Bonanni floors Carrasco again in eighth, but tires over the last two rounds. His more accurate punching and the knockdowns should have been enough but Carrasco gets the majority decision on scores of 94-93, 95 ½-94 ½ and 94 ½ each. Real battle between two 23-year-old unbeaten fighters. First time Carrasco has been taken the distance. He was lucky in this one, but claimed an injured hand. Olympian Brizuela has too much skill and accuracy for modest Flamenco but makes heavy work of it. Wins on scores of 60-57, 59 ½ -56 ½, and 60-56 ½
November 29
San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic: Super Bantam: Jenifel Vicente (19-0-2) W KO 2 Jonathan Perez (17-8). Welter: Felix Diaz (8-0) W T DEC 5 Edinson Garcia (17-12,1ND). Puncher Vicente strikes again. Flattens Colombian at the start of the second round with a right and lays him out cold. Vicente now has 13 by KO/TKO and wins vacant WBA Fedlatin title. Has 19 wins in a row as he drew each of his first pro fights. Perez has mixed in good company so was expected to provide a test. Olympic gold medallist Diaz given a reasonable workout by Colombian. Dominican southpaw, 26, well in control when Garcia, 31, slips and damages a leg. Eighth loss in his last nine fights for Garcia.
November 30
Bueng Kan, Thailand: Super Fly: Drian Francisco (20-0-1) W PTS 12 Duangpetch (52-2-1). Super Feather: Terdsak (42-3-1) W KO 4 Sonny Manakane (13-8-2). Yet another Filipino breaks through as Francisco,28, floors Duangpetch twice in the sixth and finishes him to win the vacant interim WBA title. First loss since 1997 for Thai who was unbeaten in his last 52. Duangpetch taken to hospital after the fight . Southpaw Terdsak gets kayo win over Indonesian. No 14 wins in a row since losing to Steve Luevano for WBO featherweight title. His other losses have been to Juan Manuel Marquez and Joan Guzman.
Kempton Park, South Africa: Light Heavy: Johnny Muller (8-0-2) W TKO 1 Ron Lategan (10-9-1). Super Feather: Joey Stiglingh (10-0) W PTS 8 Warren Joubert (16-2-1). Muller, 20, comes out swinging at the bell and simply overwhelms Lategan batters away until the referee saves beaten fighter. All over in 109 seconds. Somehow Muller came down from weighing 202lbs in his fight in September to 171lbs for this one. Wins vacant South African title. Second title shot for Lategan who lost to Daniel Bruwer in 2008. Great little scrap between prospects sees Joubert deducted a point for butting which costs him the fight. Scores 76-75 twice and 75-76.
