The "Assassin" takes aim at another title

Lee McAllister, Aberdeen's most successful professional boxer, known as the "Aberdeen Assassin" is in line for a shot at the IBO International light-welterweight title in his quest for more belts in Aberdeen's Beach Ballroom on Friday 3rd September.

The show, which is promoted by McAllister under his Granite City Promotions, sees Lee box Hungarian champion Istvan Nagy for the bauble.  The boxer-promoter said, “At present I am in line for a European title bout at lightweight but as I get older I am finding it more difficult to make the 9st 9lbs limit, so I am laying out my plans to at some stage, move up a weight.

"I am grateful to have the opportunity to box for an IBO title and who knows, this could be the first step on the way to fighting for the IBO world title. In recent times Matthew Hatton boxed for the IBO world title and it opened a few doors for him."

Manager Tommy Gilmour stated, “Lee is one of the most popular boxers in the game and the support he gets in Aberdeen is huge. The future is looking bright for Lee with many options but I hope that after this event we can secure a SKY TV date with Barry Hearn's Matchroom Sport to raise Lee's profile even more."

The atmosphere in the Beach Ballroom on a McAllister boxing show is indeed something special, as Istvan is about to find out.
