Are the odds shortening on Audley?
When David Haye announced he would defend his WBA heavyweight title against Audley Harrison, almost everyone wrote off the chances of the former Olympic champion.
Well, let's face it, they still are to a great extent. But a quick glance at the bookies' latest odds seem to show that with the fight at Manchester's MEN Arena only five weeks away, a few people seem to be supporting Audley's 'Yes He Can' mantra with a few quid.
He's still an outsider but as short as 9/2 with Ladbrokes, though there is still a bit of 13/2 sport betting odds about. Though if you listen to Yank commentator Dan Rafael's latest outpourings (well, the blurb accompanying his latest rankings) you might stick your head in the gas oven rather than watch the bout.
Perhaps it's a dud of a fight from an American perspective...but then, contests which don't include Americans often are.
Audley is a brilliant talker and come fight night, despite what reality might dictate, more than a few British fight fans could be convinced that what the big man says is true - David Haye is merely a part of his story, not the other way round. If you fancy following Big Aud's dream with a wager, you might be best advised to get on before he hits the UK running from his American training camp and spins Joe Bloggs into a frenzy.
