Anderson unfazed by David's camp claims

Edinburgh's super-middleweight Kenny Anderson is sanguine about claims from his opponent's camp that he is "one dimensional" and crude in boxing terms.

The Commonwealth gold medallist meets Paul David at Glasgow's St Andrew's Sporting Club on Monday in a British title eliminator in what will herald the end of referees being the sole arbiter in either title or eliminator bouts for British titles. The protocol from the 19th January onwards will be three judges at ringside.

Anderson is quoted as saying, "David is quoted as calling me a crude slugger, but he is going to find out that I am an accomplished technical boxer too, if I have to be."

Similarly, claims by the Ingle camp that David's sparring with Carl Froch, Silvano Brasconi and Robert Steiglitz give their man an advantage are dismissed by the Edinburgh man as nonsense. "None of these guys have a style like mine, so a fat lot of good that is going to do him."

Having been team manager at International level with Kenny Anderson, the idea that he's a crude slugger is errant nonsense. It had better be trash talking from David, as if it is his game plan then he could be in for a shock in the Radisson on the 18th.
