Friday Fight Night - Hearn’s Heavyweight Christmas Treat?

This week's Sky Sports televised Friday Fight Night sees an intriguing heavyweight match up between two European fighters who are no strangers to the UK boxing scene. Italian Paolo Vidoz does battle against Essex-based Pole Albert Sosnowski  for the vacant European title.

With a record of 26-6 with 15 knockouts for Vidoz and Sosnowski  (left, c.Luis M. Alvarez) sporting a slight padded 44-2-1 with 27 knockouts record, this has all the ingredients of a fight not be missed.  These guys are good solid professionals and have been around the block and winning this title will help elevate both fighters up the world rankings.

Boxing fans in UK should be familiar with the two fighters, both have been in the ring with some of our heavyweight contenders of the last few years.

Albert Sosnowski,30, really got his name on the map with a stunning KO victory over Danny Williams in November of last year.  After both fighters landed their best shots in the early stages and with Sosnowski looking ready to go a couple of times, he managed to land big on Danny and stop him in the eighth round. Not only did he display a very good chin, Albert also proved he can bang a bit too.

Vidoz, 39, has shared the ring with Matt Skelton, with Vidoz having to retire in the ninth after taking too much punishment and Michael Sprott where Sprott won a unanimous decision back in 2005 for the same belt that is up for grabs on Friday. Even though he has lost a few Vidoz has always been competitive and proved over the years he is a decent euro level boxer.

Another reason which makes this fight so interesting to fans in England, is , our very own Olympic gold medal winner and long lasting Audley Harrison could well be waiting in the wings to fight the winner. They are all promoted by Barry Hearn so it is a very make able fight.

Also on the card are some well known former prize-fighter contenders, Carl Dilks vs. Charles Adamu (right) for the Commonwealth  super middle title, Matthew Marsh and debutants Chris Evangelou and Sam Smart.
