Exclusive - Tyson Fury returns on Barker/Elcock undercard

Tyson Fury, the English heavyweight champion, returns to action and to your television screens on Saturday on the Barker/Elcock Undercard being screened on ITV4. Fury’s last fight was in Ireland just two weeks after his controversial victory over John McDermott for the English title back in September.

Fury has been quiet since his last fight, when he broke his hand, but has been added to the Hennessy bill at the last minute where he will fight in a six round contest. His opponent is looking likely to be Yavor Marinchev who took Larry Olubamiwo the full six rounds last week on Sky sport Friday Night Fights card in Nottingham.

BoxRec News managed to catch up with Fury after a training session in Manchester in the build up to his fight on Saturday, where he spoke about his upcoming fight.

“I am fighting Yavor Marinchev, I don’t know much about him apart from he’s had about 30 fights and has never been stopped so it will be some achievement if I can stop him. I know he fought Larry Olubamiwo last Friday and took him the full six rounds.”

Fury who is normally busy, has had an eight week break, due to a broken hand in his last fight against Tomas Mrazek. His hand seemed to be fine during the training session as he was put through his paces.

“The hand is quite recovered, it’s not 100% recovered  but it’s on its way to being so I am just to use Saturday night to test it out and see how it feels.”

After this fight on Saturday, Fury will take some time off before having his rematch with John McDermott some time in January or February.
