Amir Khan says he'd outsell Froch in Nottingham
WBA light-welter champion Amir Khan has hit back at Carl Froch by saying he could sell more tickets than the WBC super-middle boss in the Cobra's home town of Nottingham.
Froch has been vocal in saying he is a better athlete and worthy of more attention than his countryman Khan but in a video which appears on the You Tube website, it appears that the Bolton youngster isn't going to surrender in a battle of words to the bigger man just yet.
"I choose to ignore that guy, you know? You know when you get a fighter that just talks trash? He's been talking trash about me even though we are in different weight categories.
"I think it's more about jealousy - when they see Amir Khan being a famous fighter and a big name and him not being anyone. I've been looked at probably more than he's been looked at. But that's the way boxing is, you always get haters and lovers.
"But I wish him all the best in life. He could build his fan base up. More people would come to see me fight in Nottingham, even though he lives there - and he knows that himself."
Khan does allow himself a knowing smile at the last crack. It will be interesting to see what missive is sent to Bolton next from the Nottingham man, who is an expert at what our American cousins call 'smack talk'.
